You know I say this is amazing because it really is. This thing was at a GOOD WILL BIN store! I mean tossed about like a rag doll in GOOD WILL getting every hand put on it and stripped of every part NOT locked down with screws! And he only payed 25 bucks for it. I put time and ram in it and well works really good in fact like new. My dad is happy now he things his 25 bucks went to some thing that works! I was never going to do any thing with this thing other than strip it gut the case and install a new system in it. Well NOW that has all changed. But for the good. Even though my supper cool kickazz computer died I found a silver lining in the clouds of black gloom!

Does it see the 4GB of RAM? The system is spec'd for a max of 2 GB (1x1GB).

i used to have one of those guys back in the day, had a 6200 nvidia pci card in it (that was donated)

if i were back to those days and was going to keep the thing going for as long as possible the only thing i would do is add

SPARKLE 700031 (SP210L512JCPA) GeForce 210 512MB 6...

nvidia 210 shouldn't be too much for the PSU and just call it a day might even get some of the ram back if the intergrated gpu is using some.

*just a note* i get excited over old hardware, either for using it with linux or just making it run as good as it could for kicks (my project is an hp touchsmart iq504...core 2 duo and 4 gb of ram, though i can get a 9600m gt for the thing and have an older all-in-one gamer)

WOW that card even has HD!!! Sweet. Yeah I am going to the Good Will Today with the parents (like there favorite place to shop) see if I can't spot some stuff for this setup. Maybe even a system. WHO knows it is the goodwill man!

As long as you have 512MB of RAM Windows 7 will install and work, and it will boot and work with less than that.

Yeah it has 4gb for now. Yeah one core 2 logic processors.

Yea, it's 630 CPU, I've overclocked 4 or 5 of them. Unfortunately the board I used wouldn't do FSB over 247 becuase of PCI dividers, which equated to 3.7 Ghz if I recall correctly. All but one chip would do that speed.

I doubt it is a 630. My guess is it is a 524 or maybe 519, sadly both are noticably worse than the 630.

I don't remember any skt775 Pentium 4 ever being clocked stock at 3.06Ghz. More often than not the weird clock speeds like 3.06 and 2.53Ghz were the result of a 533Mhz FSB instead of a 800Mhz FSB.

I think this might be a skt478 machine. My guess on the CPU would be this.

Edit: If the board supports 600-series P4s there are always a couple people on the forums selling some old P4 parts if not you might be able to find a faster 500-series CPU.

Yeah it is this CPU But the MB is just basic. No features at all but basic stuff like time and date and boot sequence.. But all in all quite a real difference in having to use some older tech vs what I once had (And will soon again). Just thinking back this was the time I switched over to AMD and had no reason to want or buy a P4 the XP And Athlons ruled back then! So I am getting a chance to see what every one was talking about with Hyperthreading..

Hyperthreading was seriously gimped in the P4 because of how huge the pipeline was. Clock speeds had to be really high to do anything in a reasonable amount of time and the cost of miss-predicting branches used to be pretty bad. The benefit of a 600-series P4 is that you would gain 64-bit extensions.

The real benefit of the 600 series was the doubled L2 cache.

I do not know I do know this, Dell spared all expenses on this MB. Just as dull as they come.

your video chipset is a "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900" which intel never made windows 7 drivers for. your best bet would be to use the windows vista 32bit drivers and try to run them on windows 7 in vista compatibility mode.

you'll need to find out the chipset so you can get the right driver. for example, 915g
