Yeah, i've been eyeing one of those (semi-hybrid) pcie cards and unfortunately none have been bootable so far
i wonder if it because of the controller

Heh, an old computer of mine ages ago had a 10GB Quantum Fireball as its HDD, and it took its name as inspiration. My data burned :shadedshu

LOL! My first homebuilt back in 97 had a Fireball EX in it! It was a whopping 5 FIVE GIGABYTES!!

Yep, me to. Had a Windows 95 restore disk with full OS on it on a 640MB CD. Also had OFFICE 95, Plus+ 95, and some other utilities on the same CD. Hehe. Good ol' times.

How is the caching on this achieved. Is it really using the 192GB as a cache or it is just doing that stupid thing where it mirrors the first 192GB of the hard drive to the SSD?

I think it just puts (cache) the most used programs on SSD, OS included...

oh man i remember sthe days with my maxtor 6GB and 40GB both died very fast! just the seagate 120GB and 200GB are still rocking in older s775 systems ^^


I think these are made for server, so how much?

i saw these pci-e ssd but i don't get it... is sata 3 that slow? I think for normal and even enthusiasts anything more than an ssd raid setup - already insane - theres no real need or benefit to it
