Dell To Launch Precision M3800 Mobile Workstation With 3200 x 1800 Display

2KG for a mobile workstation ain't bad, people who have this wont care about the weight, it will be on a desk or in a car.

I'm actually pretty annoyed at this "thinner and lighter" thing. Everything has to be thin, even things that has no business being so. Monitors and the latest iMac is one thing. This is another. Sometimes thin is good, but a mobile workstation? Innovation is good, but most folks are going in the wrong direction imo.

the MBPr has a better display and is lighter at the same price point.

You mean The Macbook Pro is better because has a lower resolution? And how is 4.4 pounds lighter than ... 4.4 pounds? And if it's true that the top model is $1999 it's cheaper, which might not mean much at that point, but still. The price discussion is pretty irrelevant now anyway until we see it in stores and see how difficult it is to upgrade. Apple wants €194 to put in 16GB RAM instead of 8GB. And you can't put in more than 16GB. And the Macbook has no keypad either, so I really REALLY do not see how it is supposed to be better, unless you like that design and Apple.

(liking the design and Apple are as good reasons as any to buy computers)

The only reason the MBpr has to be light, is so it can be carried into the local coffee shop to show off.

Which is something I really don't have problems with anymore. I just can't be assed to care what people do with their money. It's sort of relaxing.
