AMD's performance-segment Radeon R9 270X could prove to be a winning sub-$200 product for the company. Sources affiliated with a leading online retailer revealed that the SKU could greatly resemble the limited edition Radeon HD 7870 "Tahiti LE," possibly with higher clock speeds and stream processor count. "Tahiti LE" is a major variation of "Tahiti," which features not just lower numbers of stream processors and TMUs, but also a narrower 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. The die is mated with a more compact BGA package that has lower pin count, thanks to the narrower memory interface, and probably fewer power/ancillary connections. Sources reveal the R9 270X to be "a crippled HD 7950," which could indicate a stream processor count of 1792, higher than the 1536 of Radeon HD 7870 "Tahiti LE." The TMU count could be proportionately higher due to the way they're structured on the GPU; at 112, compared to 96 on "Tahiti LE." The clock speeds are still under the wraps. AMD set an SEP price of the Radeon R9 270X at $199.

This explain why TahitiLE nowhere to be found.Turn out this cripple HD7950 does the job good.Small amount of bump here and there and cheaper than current 7870 LE,this card might be a killer in mainstream segment.

Will this card beat Nvidia's Titan when rendering BF3 over Mantle?

Dude...where you get those pot? :wtf:

I highly doubt it will have 1700 shaders since the R9 280 has that many

the 270X is pitcairn renamed asic to curacao XT so its either 1280 shaders or a pitcairn xtx 1536

Out of curiosity, what is your reason for using that name for the chip? I always thought the internal code name for that chip was Tahiti LE, and Pitcairn only had 1280 shaders. That name seems to make no sense, although there is no rule that the official manufacturer code names have to make sense.

This specification of the R7 270 would make sense if the R9 280X is an insanely high clocked Tahiti (not just a GHz edition). It would give AMD a place to dump all their chips that can't clock very high but don't have many (or any) shader defects.

The more I look at this release the more I realize how much of a mess the AMD lineup will be after the release. There's going to be 8 or 9 cards, and the lower end ones will be separated by $15-$20 increments. It's a great way to add confusion and annoy the AIB vendors and resellers who have to pitch that many different variations.

on that spec?let say between 50-60%

they release full fledged line up,covering low-end,mainstream to enthusiast. It's not that AMD will trick costumer over clock bumps, but also give moar SP and TMU's :)

The 7950 boost has been available from $170-200 over the last month and half... So people should be happy about receiving an inferior product at the same price point out of the new lineup? :banghead:

280X is 2048 shaders, 280 is 1792, 270X is 1280 or 1536, and is pitcairn, its 100% pitcairn renamed to Curacao, device ids don't lie

I think I found a replacement for my own card :rockout:

However:
The 270X is pitcairn renamed asic to curacao XT so its either 1280 shaders or a pitcairn xtx 1536

6810 Curacao XT [Radeon R9 270X]
6811 Curacao PRO [Radeon R9 270]

This is what I was thinking, especially if it's a "Pitcarn" replacement. Either way it's shaping up to be absolutely awesome.

I can't quite discern what you mean from your statement. Are you suggesting that Curacao is just a renamed Pitcairn still with 1280 shaders or that Curacao is a redesigned die with more shaders (1536) than Pitcairn?

edit: I take back my previous statement about this new lineup being more confusing that the current one. At last count, AMD has 10 products on the market. If this new lineup has 8 or 9, that will be an improvement.

Will this card beat Nvidia's Titan when rendering BF4 over Mantle?

On a similar note, will the XBox 360 run 2013 games better than a ATI Radeon X1900XT @ 1280x720 (where applcable)? Yes, in most of the cases, yes it will.

Will Mantle be somewhat comparable? We can hope...
