In the aftermath of AMD's Radeon R9 290 launch, which at $399, makes the $499 GeForce GTX 780 look undesirable, NVIDIA could be pushing its partners to come up with factory-overclocked SKUs that make the GTX 780 competitive at its price point. The first such card is the Gigabyte GTX 780 GHz Edition, which was earlier mistaken for an official NVIDIA SKU. Granted, the card is based on the new B1 stepping of the GK110 chip, but that doesn't constitute a new SKU. The card features out of the box clock speeds of 1019 MHz core, 1071 MHz GPU Boost, and an untouched 6.00 GHz (GDDR5-effective) memory. It's beginning to appear on European online retail websites such as OCUK, at a roughly 10 percent premium over regular GTX 780 cards.

Wasn't this confirmed as a gigabyte branding and not an official card from nvidia?

Its a branding by card vendors (Any of them). No, Nvidia has not made an official GHZ sku.

wow

10 percent premium over regular GTX 780 cards

thats good ....

clock speeds of 1019 MHz core to 1071 MHz GPU Boost very fast

this GPU can defeat R290 ?

So at least a $550 price, for e pre-overclocked, slightly better binned card, with only 3GB of VRAM, that gets stepped over by a $400 one quite a few times? However greenlit this over at nVidia is a moron, if anything, they need a nother price drop.

You do realize that the 290 only beats the reference 780s right? This card would beat a Titan easily at those speeds and is easily on par with a 290x for the same price without the heat/noise issues...

FYI, R9-290 non-x can beat GK110 14SMX too (Titan), especially if OC'ed a bit (minimal OC 1050mhz).

*Check techpowerup R9-290 review.

way to state the obvious, even a gtx780 can beat a titan if oc'ed a bit, in fact most AIB gtx780 can beat a titan. dude this is old news, everybody knows just let it go already.

I was talking about minimal 50-70mhz OC, something that can't help 780gtx to beat Titan, it needs at least 100-150mhz..

Just so you know, I know all the scenario in the market too, no need to be ahole about it, tnx. ;)

The difference is that an OC'd 780 can beat a Titan without reaching exceedingly loud noise and temperature while the 290/290x sounds like a leaf blower and boil eggs out of the box.

I wouldnt touch stock R9-290 either, only customs and those can OC 1200mhz without a problem below 75C.

On topic, something like this Gigabyte cooler, hopefully they're gonna make 780Ti version as well.
