Ahead of its scheduled release, AMD's first Catalyst driver to include its ambitious Mantle API and TrueAudio, was leaked to the web. Notebook maker Toshiba listed it on its support site. That's the good news, and here's the bad news. First, the driver is packaged by Toshiba support to work only on its notebooks. You could experiment with the driver information file, if you know what you're doing. Second, its installer probably checks out your motherboard ID to tell that you're not using the software on a Toshiba notebook. On the bright side, it does leave installation files in your temp folder, including an AMD installer. If you're up to it, download the 316-megabyte installer from here.

installing this on my Toshiba E-300 notebook now.

316MB for a driver ?!?! ?! ?!!? !?

Maybe it's just me, but I cannot see any traces of Mantle or TrueAudio in this driver. Yes, it is 13.35, and yes, it was rumoured to be the first Catalyst release to include the new APIs, but this release may have those components removed or simply not included. Or maybe I just can't find the relevant DLLs or kernel drivers in there...

You can always do a GLide vs Direct3D vs OpenGL test, just for warming up and for ol' time's sake. ;)

Would be great if you could alter the original news post accordingly ;) A lot of guys simply download the package just to get disappointed...

and even more when they start BF4 and it doesn't show a big popup "Mantle detected. Your performance has been improved by 487549875%"

AMD says it will be ready in January. We still have a few days, so fingers crossed :)

They also said it would be out in December.... but now we are ahead of schedule?

Can this be tested on BF4 or does Dice need to release a patch?

If the game would run... That itself would be a 487549875% improvement

Pretty much. As it stands now it will be impossible to tell if Mantle improves things or the game is just finally working as intended >.<

I'm willing to bet that the first Mantle patch for BF4 will be full of bugs and crashes. Just wait and see... ;)

I think it will improve for BF 4 Multiplayer so much.

they got us all excited about mantle i hope it will be that good

amd get's every body excited, nooo not again o_O

my bulldozer is fighting with office :fear:
