Good thing about these passive coolers is that you can always stick a huge slow spinning fan on it and you get very silent and super cooling performance. Double win :) I remember doing it on my backup passive GeForce 8400GS. Could clock it realyl high then and even be able to play some newer games with it few years ago when my main gfx card died.

But it's 3 Slot already, a fan would make it 4 Slot wich is a waste of space for such a videocard.

This. Every night of the week, this. Bring back low power single slot low-midrange cards.

Palit GTX 750 StormX/KalmX series the weapon of choice for serious gaming at an incredible value... cards give you the gaming horsepower to take on today's most demanding titles in full 1080p HD.

Perhaps a "serious entry gaming weapon"... being stock clocks and conceivably minimal ability to OC. It should say "takes on today's most demanding titles at 1680x" or "some of todays demanding titles at 1080p".

But it's 3 Slot already, a fan would make it 4 Slot which is a waste of space for such a videocard.
I could not believe they had to go 3-slot on this. When 5750 and 7750 could do nice dual slot envelopes this being lower power needed all that?

why not make something relevant like a single slot 750 Ti?
Exactly! Why all the big dual slot and dual fan cards...? Imaginably to add "credence" to its’ "pretentiousness" about its' implied essence to being some "serious gaming card". I'd give it true kudos if it was more what the GT240/5670 was back in their days… As that's is what a GK107 offers now in its' time.

The only problem with this passive solution is that it is already 3 slot desigh. An extra fan, even a slim one, will make this a 4 slot card!!!

Indeed.

Thanks for adding that! The pictures here sure made it appear more than 2-slot! While it would been nice for Palit to grasp the marketing value of that and promote it more in text, as not say anything makes one to fall back to they must be concealing something. (guilty of that here) Less marketing hyperbola and more actual product text/specs is always the best strategy.

I think this is great. You don't even need a fan to make a 750ti silent though. Mine right now with it being 35c out right now while folding, meaning under full load, while overclocked to 1250mhz are at 55c core temps with the fan on auto setting

Mine right now are silent with the fan at 45%. This is on the stock evga option which is almost silent to extremely quiet till 55% fan. This is with 35c ambient, 1250mhz overclock, and the core temps being 60c.

When I overclock to the max I only get to 65c.

Who cares if it's three slot with a fan on it? It's fast and silent, the perfect choice if one needs a "capable" HTPC.
Put a 5-7 dB/A ultra-quiet fan onto it, an other one to an i5 with a similarly huge sink, and you have a decent htpc which will work fine even on the hottest sunny days, while it's silent and you can sleep next to it. I see nothing wrong with that tbh.

Uh, no.
The press release is obviously referencing both of Palit's proprietary designs. The company has two variations on the same card, they are simply referencing the StormX to PR-piggyback the newer card.

You can't talk about passive cooling and 0db AND StormX in the same line. Someone made a mistake there.

This is a StormX. I see no passive cooling and no 0db design

With passive cooler and power saving Maxwell architecture, Palit GeForce GTX 750 StormX series - pursue the silnent 0dB gaming environiment.
EDIT: And I just noticed those two errors in bold that are still on Palit's page with the announcement. Someone was in a hurry when writing this PR.
