GeForce 8800 Ultra to be Ultra-rare

NVIDIA doing things that does make sense at all... i think we must restrict the minimum number of graphic cards must be produce to make the gc performance's recognized

I get the feeling that the 8800GTX/S was launched kust to say "we did it first, were better than you". However ATi took their time, and I truly think that is what a good company does.

this is what makes me made that people say that Nvidia rushed there card out when they didnt they are just way ahead of ATI but yea the 8800 is having driver problem i dont think the Ati card is going to be perfect it will have just as many problems if not more

Obviously it's going to be more than just 10... the original post said it will be "manufactured in tens of units, not tens of thousands", which means that production of the 8800 Ultras will be ultra low

I'm guessing the number of units produced is low because they will need to cherry-pick the best of the best cores... just speculation though

I've had insider experience with hardware manufs before, so what i assume is the following.

#Nvidia grab the cores that clock the best, stockpile them.
#Nvidia then sell these to the manufacturers, with instructions on upgraded cooling and faster ram.
#These cards become a special 'collectors' edition, the kind you get with watercooling or a TEC unit at stock
#Websites go bananas over this new uber fast card, making noobs who googled for 'fastest video card' go look for it, and when they realise it costs USD $20 bazillion, they settle for an 8600GT because 'Nvidia is faster'

Competition is a good thing. Once DAMMIT lets the R600 loose, nVidia will release the 9xxx series. My opinion; We (the consumers) need another manufacturer to give the green and the red teams more competition.
