MSI Z97A Gaming 6 its First Motherboard to Feature USB 3.1 Type-C

They really did take the "Universal" out of USB. Seriously, they should have called it something else because it is no longer universal!!!

The standard is "universal", but it has to be implemented corectly by motherboards makers/bios/UEFI coders. It doesn't matter if it is a standard, if nobody is respecting it!

PS: I never had a issue with a USB keyboard, even on may old Intel 2GHz PC with a old 845 chipset Gigabyte motherboard.

You better hope that your motherboard has a PS/2 port because even while installing from a DVD, the USB ports wont work (during the install setup).

I'm not trying to build a case here, I'll dump Win7 as soon as Win10 is available. It just goes to show that USB support is decided entirely by your soft and hardware, while PS/2, even with it's age provides a more "universal" experience for interface devicse.
