So we all know that there are signs of a GeForce 8800 Ultra everywhere and PCINLIFE now has a picture of it. The picture you see below has appeared at PCGH with no direct link to the source. The card is much longer than a GeForce 8800GTX and features a massive heatsink.

A membership at PCINLIFE is required to view the picture in their forums.

ooo sexy...

so the new nvidia trademark is...longer the card, longer your e-penis...

I do like that black heatsink, wonder whats under the plastic out of curiosity, should get some pics like the dissasembled r600 stock heatsink, just for comparison reasons

Its far too big. Graphics card sizes are beyond a joke. I bet a good 20% PCB size can be taken off that with a redesign.

Yeah, i reckon ur right, my father ran an R&D pcb design lab and hed have a field day with these pcbs, probs get em all generic pci modem sized

My X800GTO AGP was about the same length as that, just didnt have a HUGE cooler slapped on top...

But, i have noticed, even on the x1900.. that there is actually a fair bit of room you could shave off without comprimising the thermal load on the components a great deal, then again, maybe it just reduces costs/failure rate on assembly?

Lets boycott nvidia :p Seriously tho, that PCB size is insane, an acceptable PCB lengh can be considered 8 inches, with 9 inches still being reasonable, beyond that your just getting into lazy, cheap as possible designs

wow that cooler looks SICK

maybe its same size as the hd 2900xtx with the huge cooler

Someone please refresh my memory as to whats so special about this card. IIRC, it seems like they (Nvidia) said the had something "special" for this card, like more stream processors or something? Or some kinda driver unlock, I cant remember. Help?

Casheti you are british, now act like it! Get those LA fakers out of your av and a pic of a hot chika or a decent football club like man united in there or something :p

I'm not really a "hot chika avatar" type person, and I think football sucks arse. :D

lol.. Lakers are on a 2 game losing streak anyways. They'll probably never beat Suns :wtf:

I think football sucks arse. :D

Regardless of that, surely basket ball still sucks even more arse?

Back on topic: NVIDIA and AMD are competing so much that they've stopped worrying about trying to provide something that is genuinely quicker and started trying to make it better just because there is more of it! It's like cars: you could even make a bigger engine to make it faster, or just concentrate on making the engine more efficient and improving other areas (weight, aerodynamics).

Well rugby or whatever, just something for your identity boy :p

Noo, basketball is great. I have an identity, it's called "loser" XD

And oh my God! Cricket is just...CRAP!

Yea cricket is crap. Alright to play, but watching it is a snorefest. If anyone suggests golf I will gouge their eyes out with a spoon, thats THE single crappiest sport to watch or play EVER, just like tennis.

I like to play sports but I don't like watching them too much.

And even then, I only like sports in warm weather :D

Probably why I'm so unfit, living in England and all...warm weather is so rare.

I am surrounded by forests and urgh... golf courses. Me and my mates once went thru one and stole the flags for a laugh (few years back) , cant imagine a more boring activity, a resist calling it a sport..

Ahhh... back on topic *cough* straightens imaginary tie

Yes golf is shite imo ,

But if that card does become available at what price ?, if the recent ati 2900 posts are correct and the gtx is the better card what sort of mark up will this have ? :twitch: ,

:rockout:

lol, its amusing, the 2900xtx thread goes apeshit, the 8800 ultra degenerates into banter about golf...
