MSI unveiled the Xield5 Gaming mousepad. Featuring the familiar MSI Gaming Dragon graphics, this cloth-surface mousepad is an almost doormat-sized 760 mm x 560 mm (WxL), and 5 mm thick, with an anti-slip underside. It weighs 730 g. Nature bamboo-rubber makes up for its filler. Its intended use (as shown in the pictures below), is to take up enough space on your desk to seat your keyboard and mouse, or gaming laptop and mouse. MSI didn't reveal pricing or availability.

I'm not a fan of mouse pads, but this one looks nice.

i had one already... pretty cheap though.. usd $10 at local shop in my city...

More like mouse carpet- fitting a laptop and a mouse. Why would I put my laptop on a mouse mat? Sucking tiny hairs from the soft surface? Anyway, remove the dragon pattern and I might be interested.

Hello ladies...

Pretty much what i thought, wouldn't the weight of the laptop make it sink in to the foam and give less air input ( if not block ) though the vents.

Maybe MSI use wider feet to get around this ?, as i know it would not help the cooling on mine.

I'm pretty sure it's going to cost a good bit more than a realistic size pad just because of the amount of materials involved and I don't see anything about it to justify it's size. jmo

also i dont think that using your laptop over it would help heat... its like using it on the bed...laptop wont breath properly

Correct...

WTF Msi?
That its not a mouse pad... its almost a carpet....

There is cool to have a large mouse pad, but this is overdone,

Regards,

Actually, the size is just enough to place a mechanical keyboard and have decent space for your mouse movement (think XL sized mousepad next to the keyboard.)

too many people are staring themselves blind at the notebook, ignoring the fact that it's used as a size/space indicator.

Also, it's a great pad if you play TCGs, it basically the same size as you'd use for your playing area.

Actually, this pad costs less than a "realistic" size pad because there's no $$ involved in paying for a logo.

This would be a great promotion for MSI with that giant logo on display, how much are they going to pay us for all the advertising everytime we show it off to someone that comes around?

Looks interesting. Neliz, how is the pad reacting on dust gatherings and such?

Pretty much the same as regular cloth pads, though dust doesn't seem to settle as easy because the top layer is a bit tighter than regular cloth pads.

Any time I feel like I dropped too much food on it, I just wash it with water.

its kinda hard to believe that you expect me to believe that mechanical keyboard might be used over a "MousePad" and this Mouse"Carpet" was made for it, I have never seen someone using mousepad for a keyboard too,

Off course laptop its used for space reference, but as you may know there is people that would use this mousepad with a laptop cause they saw it in a pic fro MSI/adds, also worst add ever…

99% of mousepads in the market have a big logo, that’s why some people get a specific one, mostly Rzer ones, for example:

so what about the razer product you show below?

I haven't seen any advertisement, but maybe I'm missing it.

that logo comprises of about 50-75% of the cost of the product, that's what I was referring to.

the only at the biging of the post...i meant the images ....also are the same ones at msi page, http://www.msi.com/product/mm/Xield5_GAMING_Mouse_Pad.html#hero-overview

it dont get your point on that "compromises" ... its normal to see mousepads with a big logo of the company, rzer image was a reference about this, there are several designs on the same mouse pad with diferent logs on the same canvas an texture...
For example:
Tt eSports Phyrrus:
tt_esports_pyrrhus_02.jpg

Tt eSports Phyrrus Bear:

So ? i see no preblem with it....
but about this? i still dont know why ...

35c_thm.jpg

Why ??

Razer also has the mat style product. You should hang out with more people, I actually learned to place mousepad over mouse-mat from fnatic players.

Yes, some scenario pictures to show you what typical placement looks like.

Why ??

because my point was that you pay for the logo, not the fact that they are all manufactured in one or two places in asia.

Size is irrelevant. I'm more interested on how good it performs and feels using a very high DPI mouse
