PowerColor rolled out the Devil HDX PCI-Express sound card. Designed with a strong focus on output quality, and targeted at PC enthusiasts with high-end headphones, the card is driven by a C-Media CMI8888 native-PCIe master processor, wired to Wolfson WM8741 primary DAC, with 124 dBA SNR, driving the headphones and front-out channels. Amplifying this, is a TI LM4562 OPAMP, which is swappable.

Nichicon Muse electrolytic, and metalized polypropylene caps man all channels, reducing signal loss. Only the electrical portion features solid-state capacitors. The card draws power from a 4-pin Molex input. The entire audio area is electrically isolated from the PCIe slot power input. The main PCB features a 6.3 mm headphones jack, supporting cans with up to 600Ω impedance, stereo RCA out, and 7.1-channel optical SPDIF (TOSLINK) outputs. A daughterboard gives out additional analog channels and inputs via 3.5 mm jacks. On the software side of things, you get C-Media's Xear3D software customized by PowerColor, with ASIO 2.2 support.

I'm planning on getting a new sound card soon, I think I'll buy one of these. I like C-Media. :)

So the CMI 8788 finally got a official upgrade from C-media then. The card is probably going to be good.

This will gave a few trading opportunities to source components and can be a good sound. only 2 slot will be a lot axle for large systems with 4x GPU , PCI-E SSD. no other can be at 9 or 8 free PCI output if you have even more. I suggest a good stereo system and not suraund.

Great, even more pointless "high end" soundcards with prehistoric audio processors stuck on shitty OS audio stack with 10 billion software layers. What can possibly be wrong...

Which were just the 50 millionth incarnation of the old C-Media based soundcards... :(

C-Media is a chipmaker. This is no more an "incarnation of the old C-Media based soundcards" than ASUS Z97-Deluxe being the elevnty billionth incarnation of "Intel based motherboards" (by that logic).

Mobos change (even though structure doesn't much). These soundcards are literally just a copy...
Not to be pedatinc, but the main chip is relatively new, CMI 8888 compared to the old CMI 8788 so the change is about as big as from a Z87 to a Z97 MB.

And yet they don't provide anything technologically interesting. Partially because it's pointless to invest anything into new hardware tech is Windows just plainly doesn't give a shit about them and runs them through some shitty software audio stack.

Clearly you boys are a bit confused. ASIO fellas - ASIO. ASIO drivers are direct drivers - bypassing the Windows "stack" as you put it. Of course, you have to be actually USING the ASIO drivers for this to happen, and a lot of software and games can't use ASIO. Just sayin.....

Actually none of the games can use ASIO drivers, since all of those are bound to DirectSound. But ~15 years ago, the games were coded to use the "direct injection port" therefore you could have A3D, EAX running even using ASIO drivers. But those were the best times for the sound in PC games, long long gone.
Now all we have left is a 64 voice max PC speaker and that's it...

I suggest you educate YOURSELF, while you are at it, download a sense of humour.
Perhaps those that use acronyms should check first if it is in existence and common usage.
are you an actual retard, or are you just pretending to be one? ASIO has been is use for decades, and still is today. Did you even read the wiki? You're a fucking idiot.

If that's your attempt at humor, please, for the love of god, restrict your ramblings to forum posts on the internet and never try comedy.
