GIGABYTE Launches the GeForce GTX 980 WaterForce Graphics Card

980 is easier to build right now and still worthwhile because Pascal is still a while away.
so may be 970 for several consumers that still on FHD or 1080p...
Pascal will take a while ... so im guessing if nvidia will realease something more before pascal ? or 980ti will be the last chip?

Not a lot more they can release. The obvious high end option would be a fully enabled GM 200 able to have the vendor custom treatment. At present, the fully enabled chip is Titan X only (excluding the Quadro M6000) and comes with some restrictions (board power limit, lack of air cooled custom options). At present, from a marketing point of view, there is no need for the model. If AMD were able to wring some more performance out of Fury X/Fury, I would think that the natural reaction would be to slot the new GM 200-based model into the $650 price bracket and drop pricing on the 980 Ti to accommodate it.

Yes but this is loooooooooooooonger than Fury X :p
(it does remind the Fury X)

I'm waiting for the longcat endorsement.
