The NDA for the R600 was finally lifted around an hour ago and manufacturers are already spreading the news. Danger Den is first here to show their upcoming R600 full size water block. As the HD 2900 XT draws a lot of power (around 215W AMD/ATI announced) a water block does make a lot of sense. The cooler is two parted, along with the GPU chip, the memory and voltage regulators on the fron, it cools the memory chips at the backside of the card as well.
The name of that cooling beast and it's price is still to be uncovered, check back this week, we will have the scoop then.

well I guess thats my next block, once I get the card that is

I have the dangerden Tyee x1900 version waterblock, was "so" hoping i could get away with using that, bah...

Hmm, should be good.

Time to get the overdraft extended considerably

I hear you on that. I need to save some money for a better rad and this block now. Damn stupid expensive hobby. lol

I need to get some more tubing as well, which isn't cheap. I'm trying to get some of the Tygon R1000 super flexible stuff, but it's hard to find it in short lengths.

Why not use something similar to a Maze5 with ramsinks?

Doesn't work on the core.

Every review I've seen so far claims the die is offset from the height of the shim, actually indented. So to use a cooler from a previous generation, you'd need to mill out space for the shim.

What size and how much??? I have some shorter lengths lying around.

You can have it if I have the size you need

thats a nice looking block

see, thats how the waterblock should be. Not like that other half arsed one. ( I cant remember who made it. there was just a review on it)

Hey d44ve, i'm after some 1/2" ID, 5/8" OD. Probably 2-3 Meters, but shipping from Florida might be a bit costly =/.

Yeah, that block is sweet. I love the way it's all machined out of one type of metal. Those aluminum/copper ones corrode badly and gunk up your water.

now i gotta be arsed to drain my loop and detach when the time comes. Meh, well at least im not upgrading just yet, money being the deciding factor

It aint that much hassle man lol, my waterblock fits fine on my 8800, had to drill the bolt holes on the card tho to fit them through that was only hassle!

Forget that.... props to you for having the balls to do that though.

Yeah, sorry... I didnt see you were oversea's.

Besides, I only have 3/8ID 1/2OD

Sorry :ohwell:

It was straight forward once I got the loan of my bro's drill, just took it really slow and not to big drill bit so there was no chance of cracking the pcb, I was rather chuffed with my efforts :toast:

No worries, it was nice of you to offer. Thanks :toast:
