AMD Releases Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 WHQL

AMD released the WHQL-signed version of Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.11.1 as the new 15.12 WHQL. It addresses a variety of game-specific issues, including rendering errors on Star Wars: Battlefront; bugs on Fallout 4; texture-compression issues with Just Cause 3; poor CrossFire performance with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. It also addresses a critical issue in which the driver would either spool fan-speeds all the way up to 100% on load, or lock them down at 30%, causing certain GPUs to overheat. A variety of bugs specific to the Radeon Settings app were also addressed.

It's the same driver version as 15.11.1. This is probably mostly updates to application profiles and the new control panel in Crimson. Either way, it seems stable on my 390; no issues as of yet. At least, that is to say no issues beyond the issues that 15.11.1 had.

How come AMD never pushes updates throught its software, I've been pushing the check for updates button in Radeon Software Crimson since the update and it keeps telling me I have the latest version.

please, after the recent stuff with whql drivers on win10: auto updated, forced (re)install of unstable/buggy/non-functional whql certified drivers (and you know damn well which side those drivers were from, hint not the red one) the acronym whql has lost all meaning

As you can see most Graphics Card got 2x bus speed for the same price against nVidia, When I wanna to bought my new PC i wanted nVidia, but tons of people sad AMD much better for that price..

Are you trying to update via crimson? If so just download the installer. They may not have published the driver via that channel yet.

It always amazes me how they can screw up the fan speed on cards so badly. Back when a friend of mine got an Xfx 8800GT, the fan never got above 30%, EVER. The result was red streaks across the screen and a crashed computer after the card got over 100c.

Shouldn't there be some sort of failsafe built in to the cards hardware? JEEZ.

They do. Its thermal throttling. The issues was fan but was fixed the next day in a beta driver this is a WHQL that includes that fixed. It was also not all cards that had the issue and obvious if you were the unlucky one that had the issue spooling to 100% would just add noise but make it run cooler. 30% you would eventually reach throttle depending on the systems conditions when in game.
