HyperX, a division of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced its award-winning Cloud II and forthcoming Cloud Revolver headsets are the first audio devices to gain Discord certification. Discord, the fastest rising voice and text chat app for gamers, offers free, secure and low-latency service for multi-player desktop and mobile gaming. They have 5 million users with over 1 million new people trying it out each month and recently raised $20 million (USD) in venture capital through an investment led by Greylock Partners.

Discord works with top audio manufacturers to ensure that gamers have an excellent experience when communicating among friends, teammates and fellow players. HyperX Cloud II and Cloud Revolver headsets are certified by Discord to have clear and crisp voice quality along with excellent sound. No audible echoes, background noises or vocal distortion were detected. To achieve certification, the microphone on the Cloud Revolver and Cloud II headsets were subjected to various tests including an acoustical comparison vs. a reference sound signature from Discord, rigorous game play among the top five games and constructive audio feedback from the user community.

"We are excited to work with the best hardware vendors in gaming to certify that their headsets play nicely with Discord," explained Eros Resmini, CMO, Discord. "HyperX Cloud Revolver and Cloud II went through the gauntlet and passed with sonic bliss."

"It is an honour to be the first gaming headset manufacturer to achieve Discord certification," said Edward Baily, EMEA Business Manager, HyperX. "Discord is quickly becoming a major player in the voice and chat gaming market. To get their certification is further validation of our headsets and our commitment to gamers to provide the best quality sound experience."

HyperX is the high-performance product division of Kingston Technology encompassing high-speed DDR4 and DDR3 memory, SSDs, USB Flash drives, headsets and mouse pads. Targeted at gamers, overclockers and enthusiasts, HyperX is known throughout the world for quality, performance and innovation. HyperX is committed to eSports as it sponsors over 25 teams globally and is the main sponsor of Intel Extreme Masters. HyperX can be found at many shows including Brasil Game Show, China Joy, DreamHack, gamescom and PAX.

Kingston? Seriously? Why do all the memory manufacturers venture into other computer hardware? Too much competition I guess. :(

Kingston is one of the largest memory manufacturers. Also memory and storage vendors usually make more money they can reinvest in new ventures compared to other manufacturers.

That aside, Kingston is a well established brand, and from person experience they do things right instead of take shortcuts, something I can respect.

I have a Kingston HyperX Cloud II, a Plantronics RIG, a Logitech G930, and a Corsair H2100. The HyperX is my favourite. No audio clipping from bass frequencies unlike the G930. Is comfortable to wear for long periods unlike the RIG and the Corsair H2100, but my G930 is still the comfort king. Also, the HyperX mic bloody functions well unlike the Corsair H2100 mic.

The 7.1 surround on the HyperX is garbage. Doesn't need it.

True, except I am not going to bother checking the review of a cheap SSD. I am not buying that drive based on it's performance, but rather it's price, and I don't care what Kingston has to do to sell that product at a cheap price, just that it will last at least 3 years. I also bought two of those SSDs, only because of their price, and they are still going strong. Now, if they had done something like that in their HyperX lineup I would have been upset with my purchase.

But the drive wasn't that cheap when they did that thing. It was among the cheapest sure, but they still close to halved its speed withou notification or even a price drop. It's like if the Crucial BX200 would be half as fast as the BX100 but have the same name and users would only notice when they benchmarked the drives.

Ah okay, the sequential write speeds were halved or both read and writes?
