Asus X79 DELUXE Intel 3930K 2 GTX 780Ti DCIIOC no SLI

UGH!
Need help all. I got the X79 Deluxe with 4 PCI-e slots, manual says slot 1 and 4 for full PCIeX16. Issue is if I put my second card in slot 4, it doesn't even see it. If I put it in slot PCI-e 3 it see's it but no option to SLI in Nvidia control panel? Also tried a clean install of newer drivers and used DDU(same result). GPU-Z see's both cards in the 1 and 3 slots, but no option in Nvidia control panel.
Can this be related to my CPU in a newer board(SandyBridge E)? I'll link to the motherboard manual

have you tried another sli connector? might be your connector

Yeah I have tried three different one's, it may still be. But still the board says the 4th PCI-e slot is for 2 way SLI and it doesn't even see the card, the card is good as it wouldn't show up in the 3rd slot if not. I'll try wiggling the bridge, Thank you Night!

Good thought but the board is an Ivy Bridge from what Im reading and all slots are PCI-e 3.0 even says it on the box, I guess its a 2011 v something..To answer though the slots are PCI-e 3.0. I already seen that posting too.....

The CPU has the lanes. Sandy Bridge + nvidia forces only PCIE2 mode... AMD cards run in 3.0 mode.

You sure the cards are the same... I mean... 780Ti not a 780

Yes both cards identical, ran in SLI on a Gigabyte Z170X. Notice though, mine is a X79 not a P9X79. I think it has to do with not having an Ivy bridge CPU as I saw a posting here by "CaDaveCa" (in another thread) he said Ivy Bridge can control three PCI-e item's where as Sandy Bridge E can only handle 2 PCI-e items. I think the WIFI is crimping the third PCI-e slot, as I bought it used and the wifi comes out I think. I must say this is an impressive server board!!


So in my bios ill set it for gen2 right? Yeah single HDMI 24 inch monitor 1080P, in Nvidia control panel it offers adjustments for handling the PHysicx just not SLI lol?

The third slot is pcie 4x only, nvidia does not allow SLI with that.

It must work only with first, second and fourth.

It ain't the bios that controls PCIE speed, but nvidia binary for you.

That processor has up to 40 PCI-e lanes, so the wireless shouldn't affect it.

For some reason the fourth slot is dead, I did have a few bent pins in the CPU socket(3), got them as close as I could. Maybe one is touching another or something.....Yeah I'd try to use the second slot but I have the GPU"S water blocked, my connector tube is short and almost kinked so I can't really try it. The pins that are bent are very slight bends, so even if there back where they need to be they look differently. I'll post a photo soon.

On a positive note I did get 4800Mhz with a V-core off set off .075 it ran 3D mark pretty well with one GPU, nothing great but.....

Now this makes sense. Bent pins are bent pins. Obviosly slightly not enough to make a contact.

Something wonky is going on, I have s imilar experience, but NOT with the X79 board that I have. Rather, it's my Crosshair IV Formula. I used to run 2x GTX670 in SLi w/o any issue. Then, after a few driver updates, I didn't realized it, but SLi was somehow disabled. I checked an saw no option for SLi though the system 'sees' two cards. At first, I thought one of my cards was dying, ran them separately and they seemed fine, but when I tried to SLi them, didn't matter if my MSI or Leadtek were the main card, there's just no SLi option in the control panel......only for the 2nd card to be a dedicated PhysX card. All this has led me to suspect that NVidia is somehow nerfing Kepler cards' performance.....yeah, I know, I can be paranoid at times.

but i wanted to know if jaggerwild did try the nvidia patch pci3.0 . because there are peeps that got probs with sli afterwards like me with 3930k c1 stepping on asrock x79-had to do a fresh install.

I have an X79 PRO and never had a problem with graphic cards not being detected. Only real problem ive had was amd crossfire causing bsods and ctds and ghosting when amd breaks crossfire profiles. Dual gpu scaling for newer games is a very minor issue as it always gets fixed eventually

I used to have a RIVE and it wasn't, I found that thread patched it and it does work. How ever on mine it is not the issue, it does show that it is running PCI-e@3.0 Cause it's a late board(X79Deluxe)it was after most first round Sandy Bridge E boards it says on the box PCI-e 3.0. A link to my boards advertisement V, in that link it shows I can run in 1+2 slots I may try it

@ferrum Maaster yeah gonna pull the CPU re-seat it I have a microscope I'll snap a few picture, I know there is a way to look up what each pin relates to(I don't know how to but)...The CPU is good cause on my RIVE it ran 4 HD5770'S in crossfire.

Thank you Freedom Eclipse, any and all input is good. may help someone else but for me its looking like the pins in the socket. The board looks brand new, but with all the CPU pins its very hard to get in and manipulate just one in a crowd.

It could be cause your card weren't identical(mine are)in SLI or like my first issue where one card is in a PCI-e X4 slot no matter what it will not SLI in a X4 slot.

Damn, found out it was my oversight. I'd been switching around my cards (2x GTX Titan, 2x HD7950, 2x GTX 670) on my various systems (in my sig) and had the 2x GTX670 in my Crosshair IV Formula (CIVF, which I'd NOT included in my sig), which is NOT SLi compatible. Had it in my Crosshair V Formula (CVF) and SLi was working, then I'd swapped it into the CIVF because I'd gotten the GTX Titan and had wanted to try them on the CVF while my Asrock Extreme6 is being RMA'ed. Such a noobish mistake! What can I say? Totally my bad!

OK so small update, not figured out the fourth PCI-e isn't working(except the CPU pins which seems to be the answer)< So i moved my GPU loop rigged it I'm up in the second slot its tight but working.....

No look at the score(its Idle), even though the slot isX8 Nvidia runs it in SLI, eventually I'll remove the cooling pull the CPU tweak the CPU pins some see if I can get the 4th slot to wake up( though it may be just dead). It's not bad for an $80 board....Gonna post back a higher run soon. I am losing points(not many) for only X8 but the SLI appears in the control panel in picture above, from what others have posted it defaults 2 gen2 or PCI-e 2 as its a Nvidia thing not the board. Thats a few points also that are lost.

I know the patch, I've used it on my RIVE board. This board is PCI-e 3.0 already as this is like one of the last X79 boards made before X99. The second card is in a X8 slot, nothing can be done about that. I will post a picture of the socket, but can't do it for a while as to much going on in real life. These cards run PCI-e 2.0 cause of Nvidia, you saying there is a patch for that also? I notice in GPU-Z my cards arent BOOSTING. or the boost is the same as the clock, can I raise that?If so how?

i also bought the asrock x79 mobo with bent pins for cheap. 80.- for rive is awsome!!
for boosting look at the sensor tab of gpu-z when running the "?" bench.
i flashed a non boosting bios on my 780gtx. just prefer stable clocks.
and your unigine score is right on spot for the clocks.what frenzy is 3930k running?

Yeah I have the Skynet bios on my GPU'S, the CPU was running at 4500Mhz.
