GIGABYTE teased a silhouette of its upcoming GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming graphics card. This could very well also be a teaser for its GTX 1070 Xtreme Gaming. Not only is NVIDIA allowing custom-design GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards from day-one, but is also incentivizing choosing them. The MSRP for GTX 1080 is set at $599. You won't get the reference card for this price. That's being sold at a premium, for $699, as "Founders Edition."

NVIDIA "suggests" that the cheapest custom-design cards at launch will be $100 cheaper than the reference-design card. From the looks of the silhouette, the GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming could feature the same WindForce 3X cooling solution as the one featured on the company's GTX 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming. The GTX 1080 goes on sale from May 27, with the GTX 1070 following on June 10, however, GIGABYTE's Xtreme Gaming cards arrive no sooner than June.

That appears to be 2.5 or 3 slots wide.
I would have thought reduced power consumption meant lower thermals.

If you're going to overclock, you'll need all the cooling power you can get regardless.

Gee I wonder if it will have 3 fans, like every other Gigabyte card
