NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Clock Speeds Revealed

Did they just degraded the card from 6,75TFlop to 6,45TFlop?
Sounds like the original idea was to have over 2000 shaders.

The gap is big enough for a 1070Ti, both in theoretical performance and price.

The perfect balance would have been 7.5TFP/s and 2048 CUDA cores... It's not there, so I guess nVidia is making sure they have that little bit left if AMD is going to pull out a similar performance card but for a much better price point. They will then probably release the Ti version with GDDR5X memory too. Pretty much going to be a nice middle finger for 1070 buyers.

There are news with both 6.75, and 5.78, and now 6,45... Looks like Nvidia isn't sure where to position the card.

I guess with the AMD Polaris hype machine going quiet, like us they need to twiddle their thumbs and wait and see.

I bet we will see massive pumped AIBs cards.
Those Zotac AMP editions might look tempting...

Probably 1070/1075/1070Ti next year with 2048 Cuda cores, GDDR5X and 14nm (thus higher clock speed), released at the same time with 1080/1085/1080Ti featuring a cut down GP100 with HBM2.

Also waiting for 1070/Polaris 10 as my ol GTX 660 had to retire already

I'm holding my upgrade, until a Polaris APU is released.

Wouldn't it be just easier to show that they disabled the whole GPC rather than putting red boxes in random places?

Why waste a perfectly good raster engine? NVIDIA disables SMs at random for yields.

Have there ever been a Xx70 ti or anything? The xx60 and xx80 seems to always get the extra lovin'

Closest one would probably the GTX 275, the x60 series part was in the higher end segment back then (GTX 280 and GTX 260) then comes the GTX 285 and GTX 275 (cut down GTX 285) while the GTS 250 (9800GTX+) fills the midrange

bla bla bla

..... is 1070 gonna be faster, cheaper and more power efficient than the 970 or 980?

To expand on that^^

Faster than a 970? WAY faster
Faster than a 980? A little bit(conservatively....quite a bit actually IMO)
Cheaper than a 970? No. ~$50 more launch price(but a Deal Of The Century in comparison)
Cheaper than a 980? WAY cheaper(1070 launch price $379 vs. 980 launch price $549)
More power efficient than a 970 or 980? Define power efficient. Uses less power/has a lower TDP?
970 = 148W TDP
980 =165W TDP
1070 = 150W TDP

You do the math.

This made me laugh....

madafaka42047 :
i felt a great disturbance in the force... as if millions amd fanboys cried out in terror.. and were suddenly silenced.
it's a re-use of that sentence? 1/10 for originality (i can't remember on which previous news it was used tho)

Another nail in the coffin to amd... Hahaha...
very constructive... fortunately for them, you are not really what we can call a reference ...

Why does that make you happy?
for no reason? why would he need reason with his posting backlog?

If amd cant make a better card then the 1080 is the nail in the coffin for amd
ha ha ha
dream on amd
no one wants your gpu's now
about the Radeon Pro Duo
still weaker then 970 sli... no thanks, i'll skip.
on the R9 390 Nitro 8gb
wow that power consumption is crazy... i think it's still better and cheaper in the long run to buy a gtx 970 !!
well yes obviously ... that or just a R9 290 4gb and have a full 4gb, cheaper and on par (slightly ) with the 970

as for my own opinion in the 1070 ... i just hope this will be 970 drama all over again ... for me either a good custom 1080 or waiting 1080Ti, since my 980 is still going strong and i would not replace it by a 1070, or even shift for R9 480 or wait Vega ... probably one of the 2 last option ... nvidia disappointed me this time ... (funny, eh? that's imho, don't judge it :p )

I wonder who drew the picture with those 5 TPC-s red... maybe it's one entire GPC off with it's 5 TPC-s and with entire raster engine and related memory controllers?

This is where we agree and disagree.

I agree they will have to pull a shocker. The difference is, I think it will be that shocker.

If Polaris was going to be a shocker, Vega wouldn't have been moved from "early next year" to "October this year". Unless AMD are doing it to try to mind **** Nvidia into believing that or something, which would be stupidity bordering on corporate negligence.

You do the math.

Power efficiency on case of CPU/GPU-s would be profit / W. On case of GPU-s that would be FPS / W.
For power I used the chart here: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_1080/24.html
and for fps from the same review Witcher 3, 4k ( http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_1080/22.html ):
970 = 21.7fps / 191W = 0.11361256544502617801047120418848
980 = 25.1fps / 184W = 0.13641304347826086956521739130435
980Ti = 31.4fps / 238W = 0.13193277310924369747899159663866

1070 = ~35.26fps / ~147.2W = ~0.23953804347826086956521739130435 <= my educated guesses, take with grain of salt.
1080 = 43fps / 184W = 0.23369565217391304347826086956522

so yes, 1070/1080 will be ~2 times more power efficient than 970/980/980Ti.

or you could just look this chart:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_1080/27.html
which tells the exact same thing.

So when is the 1070 gonna get reviewed? Same day as release or a week earlier like 1080?
