ive been watching someone play "Inside" on YT, it's simple but it's stunning, the lighting is really something. It's an amazingly atmospheric game. Play it, or watch it. Strange and thrilling too.

Skyrim "after it's modded".
Metro series.
Far cry 4.

The one game that wowed me in graphics at the time was Battlefield Bad Company 2 when i was finally able to max the game out at 1680x1050 at the time,another game i thought was visually beautiful are the Soul series.

FarCry 1, better than Half life 1 and Doom 3 that released alongside that year, also liked the gameplay better.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, A little to shiny at times but at Doom 3 level graphics i like the shadow implementation more, and gameplay even better
Crysis 1, just like the original FarCry. Even at medium details the game looks stunning and thats almost 10 years old now but still impresses.
Capcom's Old MT framework engine based games (DMC4, RE5 etc) Looks sleek but runs very good even on lower end hardware.
Old Serious Sam (1st and 2nd encounter)
SIlent Hill 3 PC

Squad looks amazing. Easily the best military game out right now and its only in early access on Steam currently.

I have it and like it but sincerely, bro, it does not look good here. I have turned down some stuff to make it more fluid because it is quite laggy (my gtx980Ti won't be the culprit I suppose).

Arma APEX looks way better (here)

Guild Wars 1 was another game that had amazing graphics for the genre, when compared to like WoW which was its main competition. When i was able to nearly max out the graphics at the time with ATI Radeon X800 i believe is what i had at the time.

Honestly I can't complain over Call of Duty visuals. The Ghosts looked pretty spectacular, especially the beginning on space station and then on the ground as the satellite wrecked the earth. That part was pretty incredible visually.

That does look like a beautiful game. I will have to keep my eye on that, especially during Steam sales.

Few games that impressed me along the way that haven't been mentioned...
- Hard Reset ...an indie game that looked like a AAA game because its graphics were so good
- Metroid Prime... GameCube had horrible graphics but Prime was beautiful and pushed the hardware, soundtrack was gorgeous, best boss fights ...one of the best gaming experiences I've had (still in my top 5)
- Uncharted 4... proof that console games CAN look good. Naughty Dog gets my vote for best current game developer.

I hear Alien Isolation looks great, even today. Another game I would like a good sale on.


Not sure if this counts, but games I think that look good but really it was the style and level design that helped with complete immersion.

- Bioshock... the graphics, design and style just completely pulled me in. I was immersed as soon as the game began.
- Dishonored... great graphics but mostly I felt the art style fit perfectly with the game.

Yesterday night I watched in awe as twelve pieces of Dwarf artillery opened up on a horde of greenskins and sent bodies flying and blood splatterin'. The amount of detail, animations, and general feel of the whole thing is so well done, it surpasses everything Total War that preceded it. When you put that camera down into the action, it's stunning.

s.t.a.l.k.e.r shadow of chernobyl was really impressive when that came out. Nvidia 8000 Series days along with Crysis.
