New betas for the Windows Live Writer blogging tool, Windows Live Messenger IM client, and Windows Live Mail e-mail program have been released. Windows Live Writer is a tool to compose blog posts and publish them on some of the Web's most popular blogging platforms, such as Windows Live Spaces, Community Server, WordPress, and TypePad. In addition to the Writer update, Microsoft also released new betas for its instant-messaging and Web-based mail services this week.

Windows Live Messenger 8.5 is now in official beta and includes a new Windows Vista Aero interface. Windows Live Mail, the successor to Windows Mail that is included in Windows Vista and Outlook Express on Windows XP, also has a new beta release. The new version includes a new UI that is similar to other services in Windows Live and also allows users to sync to their Windows Live Hotmail accounts.

is this all a preparation for making MSN accounts payed?

wouldn't doubt it...

I still think its crazy! If they start Charging for MSN accounts then most people will proabably just move to ICQ...

Microsoft is just changing their software interface to match the Vista Aero, it's always been this way when a new Microsoft OS is released. Nobody talks about payed MSN accounts?

P.S. Who's going to be the first one to give me "thanks" :) great idea btw

Seems like these new betas is MS answer to Googledom.

Gives everyone and their brother the chance to feel special while relesing sub par software.

There was a reason that I never partook of some MS beta and alpha offerings.

Laptop Encryption Suite, protected so well that it was never able to be removed from many laptops in alpha stages or some beta stages. Oops.

:D

All new betas look fantastic, but lol...just started the Windows Live Mail client and it uses LOTS of RAM: ~55MB, while even the thunderbird uses ~20MB compared to the 8-12MB used system memory by the old WinXP Outlook Express.
