Sporadic freezing in Chrome

Title says it all, Chrome often freezes up completely for anywhere between 4-6 seconds and forever unresponsive. More often than not induced by Youtube usage, doesn't matter if full screen or not.

During these episodes, the rest of the system is responsive as ever. Never affects anything other than Chrome.

I very recently clean installed Windows and don't have much on my system atm as I did the clean install upon installing my new MX300. I've tried disabling / enabling built-in Flash, no difference. I've cleared cache and everything else, no difference.

Right now I'm just at a loss for what might be causing this on a clean Windows installation. Other browsers don't exhibit the same behaviour.

Chrome is up to date and is whatever new version there is with the Material Design UX.

Go to %userprofile%\AppData\Local and delete the folder "Chrome".

For me... The problem was having every dimm slot on my X79 populated... Went away when i changed ram config

Didn't help. Using Firefox as a stopgap right now.

I can't move my DIMMs anywhere else though...

I've memtested many times, seems to be fine. Relaxed the timings back to 10-11-10-30 too.

your have to stick with firefox untill chrome gets an update then

Disable hardware acceleration in Chrome Settings.

Thanks for the suggestions. It appears that it was a problem with RAM timings after all. Being a budget kit, just because Fury is rated for C10 @ 1866 doesn't mean it can pull C9 @ 1600. I put them back at 10-11-10-30 (stable for many months) and it works like a charm again.
