Delivering his keynote address at the LA Auto Show's AutoMobility conference, Brian Krzanich, Intel Corporation chief executive officer, today announced that Intel Capital is targeting more than $250 million of additional new investments over the next two years to make fully autonomous driving a reality. This is the first time Intel is keynoting at an automotive conference, signifying how critical the automotive market has become for the company.

These investments will drive the development of technologies that push the boundaries on next-generation connectivity, communication, context awareness, deep learning, security, safety and more. Drilling down into the areas that will be fueled by the fresh investments, Krzanich highlighted technologies that will drive global Internet of Things (IoT) innovation in transportation; areas where technology can directly mitigate risks while improving safety, mobility, and efficiency at a reduced cost; and companies that harness the value of the data to improve reliability of automated driving systems.

Addressing a large crowd of automotive and technology industry representatives, Krzanich talked about how the automotive industry is on the cusp of a major transformation, demanding unprecedented levels of computing, intelligence and connectivity. With the variety of sensors, sonar, LIDAR and cameras that will come embedded in autonomous cars, he highlighted the need for the industry to be prepared for the data deluge with over 4,000 GB of data coming from a single car each day.

The announcement is part of Intel's ongoing work with automakers and system suppliers to help integrate advanced technologies into cars.

WTF surly this is a Big fufu (Error)

Verified, not an error. 4 TB sounds about right. Imagine hours of video feed from dozens of cameras and sensors for the deep-learning processor to make sense of. Also Illuminati surveillance of the plebs. :p

4 TB a day that's Some Data Plan who pays for that 4 TB of Data of Wi-fi

Will that be audio or video constantly streamed in the the vehicle? :p

4 TB is a whopping amount of data to be used. I am just here imagining how much amount of data storage will it consume on internet. :o

This isn't actual video data, that would be absolutely stupid. It's telemetry data, feed from sensors that is already processed. Cameras only record data that moment, processors crunch it and whole system stores and manipulates that data. No video is ever actually recorded. For frequency at which cars sample surrounding environment is just too big to be recorded as video. 4TB would feel tiny... I mean, imagine sampling surrounding environment at 4K at what, 2800 samplings per second (example, NVIDIA PQ2)? That would essentially be framerate. Do the math how much 4K video at 2800fps you can store anywhere...

This is an Orwellian Nightmare and another reason to stop buying Intel products.

They are Going to Shove it into new Cars .........and legislate its mandatory use ( for the sake of the children )

the Result will be

Climb into Car
Turn on Ignition wait !
Voice Activated Computer Says
" Your Data Plan is over its limit please Top UP then Retry Start up Sequence.... This System is Shuting Down untill Data Credit is Updated"

Followed by "Engine Imobiliser Engaged HAVE A NICE DAY ":banghead::roll:
