Fps dropping randomly

Okay so it had all started when i had a BSOD and my pc hardrive corrupted so i formatted and installed new windows. I then play a game you know average fps before i had no problem's with my fps then i install all of my games/ programs CoreTemp , Open Hardware Monitor my cpu isn't throttling i my tempature never goes above 55c when using the stock cooler , I get fps drops in overwatch when i never did before and i don't know if my cpu is not getting enough power or my gpu isnt getting enought power but i know for sure that its not heat throttling. Thank you guys in advance.

Spec's are i5 4690k GTX 950 SC 8 GB OF RAM

Best way to analyze this is to run MSI Afterburner and soon after you experience fps drops in game, exit the game half a minute later and observe the framerate graph where fps dips. Now look at other graphs vertically if any of those had a change. Like a sudden drop of GPU clock or memory clock on graphic card. Maybe even drop of CPU clock.

it is pretty cool in my room doesnt feel hot at all gpu temp is like 66C

High i ran high with no fps drops before it has only started happening recently

I have a feeling this may be VRAM/RAM related. Are you running your OS on an SSD or a HDD?

Please install and run software that can monitor your VRAM usage (MSI Afterburner is a valid option). What I believe is happening is that your GPU VRAM is getting filled. Your 950 only has 2GB, and GTA is notorious for being VRAM intensive.

When your VRAM gets filled it spills over into system RAM, This can cause slight FPS dips due to slower access times. You're only running 8GB, so if your OS is taking up ~2GB, your generic processes and games are probably using the rest. If your System RAM gets filled, it then spills over to Page File or "Virtual Memory". If your on an SSD, this page file is slower than RAM, causing a slight dip in FPS. If you're on a HDD, Page File is stupendously slow, causing massive FPS drops.

It's also worth running CrystalDiskInfo and checking the SMART health status of your hard drive. If it says anything other than "Good", consider a replacement. A hard drive with bad sectors can cause plenty of issues.

I am running my OS on a SSD it does it when i play overwatch even tho im using like 900 mb of vram never had this problem before untill my windows corrupted and then i bought ram and i found it that it was 1333 instead of 1600 so my 1600 got clocked down too 1333 but i only use like 5 gb of ram when playing overwatch

Are your games running off the SSD or the HDD? Check my edit above and run CrystalDiskInfo.

Again, run CrystalDiskInfo, post a screenshot of the results on both SSD and HDD.

You aren't recording anything at the same time as playing games are you? Like with FRAPS or NVidia Shadowplay?
