I would save up some cash and buy the rig below. HD530 IGP is capable enough to play Leagues comfortably. You can still ad another stick of 4GB RAM later and maybe a GTX 1050 Ti or even an RX 470 4GB model to it later making it a rather decent 1080p gaming rig.

That's because you people with 1366 Xeons robbed the market for X58 motherboards. One guy in my country recently sold working MSI X58 Platinum for 67€. Used boards in good condition be found for under 80€, but you'll have to constantly monitor the supply.

I do constantly monitor the supply and they dont come up anywhere in EU. You would be pushing it to find one in the US for those prices and then add the shipping.

True, but you can still build a decent i7-based system even with server motherboard if it's in working condition witout flaws/problems.

@Knoxx29 and i have both owned a selection of one and two processor enthusiast and server boards on the X58 platform. Dont get an X 58 server board for gaming unless you are prepared to spend out on a fast Xeon to go with it. Also be prepared to suffer a lack of expansion slots and be happy to mod other parts of your system to make it work.

I personally think buying the current gen i3 without a graphic card is more than sufficient enough or even the recent pentium. In fact it is many hundred or perhaps a thousand time faster than you rig in 2003 with uma graphics. It'll cost less than $200 and still be new. Add an 8gb ram all should run swimmingly.

I guess you need a couple of beginner instructions too since this is your first time doing this.

Uffff.... Buying such thing is a waste of money and nerves, especially in the long term. Without a dedicated GPU, he will not be able to play any modern 3D games. Heck, that i3 with integrated GPU would even bother with 2007 Crysis on the lowest settings. For the long term upgrade 300$ budget is a minimum.
