Hi to upgrade to Skylake and above I know I will have to upgrade my motherboard, cpu and ram would I see much of a difference to what I have now.

If you have that Intel Core i7 4790K as in your profile now. Upgrade to skylake or kaby lake would be a huge waste of money and only a small performence boost like maybe 5-8 %.

You would be better of overclock your current CPU and if you have a crap cooler on it now, get a better one. When overclokket an i7 4970K can with ease outperforme a stock I7 6700K.

You also have more than enoufh memory and SSD´s.

If you want to upgrade something, you Would be much better of upgrading your power hungry non full DX 12 support graphics cards and/or get a 4K screen. Much better exspirince for gaming.

If that is not something you want to do. Keep it as it is. CPU upgrade is a waste of money, specially if you only game on your pc. Your current cpu have more than enoufh grunt in it.

I can not justified an upgrade with such a small performence gain.

Thanks for the advice I think I new myself but I just needed convincing. I might wait and see what like AMDs next card is like.

Yeah you cut try an wait for AMD´s Vega card. Early bench have shown performence like a GTX 1080. But take it with a gran of salt, cause it might not be true.

There is something I have thought of something I could do with, a set of head phones as I have to turn the sound in my games right down so I don't wake anyone up at night, ones that would match my sound card. Any ideas price range around £40 at a push £60.

HyperX Cloud II is a good one that doesn't break the bank.

I would be using them for offline gaming only, ie Skyrim, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty and Fallout 4, are they okay for that.
