OCCT error core 3

Hi guys , i was just testing my oc with OCTT when after 1 minutes and 34 seconds it stops because of an error detected on core 3.

Could be that my oc is unstable or i have to find out something else?

That's exactly what it means... you are not stable.

What could be the problem because i run games and other benchmarks just fine .

My vcore in the bios is set at 1.365 .

That is weird because it happened to me once, i just ignored the error and did the test once again and it didn't give me any error.

Teetering on the edge of stability...

If it throws off erroneous results, it's a poor stress test.

I used the intel processor diagnostics and didn't give me problems at all , only OCCT

.

Listen.. one stress test is not the end all for stability. Stress tests can work differently. The instruction sets it tests, to length of time for each iteration, etc. I haven't used OCCT in over 5 years...I didn't like it then for whatever reason.

See if p95 small fft drops a core...

Try running prime 95 small fft.

But really, the truth of the matter is if you are stable for your pcs uses... no freezing/BSOD etx... then it is stable for you. If you are doing computational work, you don't want to have any errors..

That's why i don't waste my time using OCCT, Prime95 or any stability test software, if the Machine doesn't crash while playing that's all what it matters

strangely that core 3 has a standout higher max temp also but that maybe nothing!

Well, I use them.. aida64 for long tests (4 hours+) and Realbench stress test for an hour is my quick and dirty...to not use them is really asking for problems. It's good to get an idea if you are close to longer term stability instead of just jumping in, playing a game or being productive and you freeze or bsod. My work/gaming is not a good way to test stability initially. That would drive me up a wall. Lol!

Just seems odd that core 3 is a fair bit higher, it used to be that 0 or 1 was often a couple of degrees warmer but yours is the complete opposite and the temp gap seems a little odd to me, possibly a voltage spike took that one core to the edge resulting in the crash, dunno I am no expert on this subject but that could be related to instability.

Maybe try a tinker with your LLC settings? Does not seems much of a hike at full stress from 1.38 - 1.42 but I am not familiar with IB.

OCCT is one of the most brutal tests for PC, even more extreme than Prime 95 and IBT. If OCCT displays error it doesn't usually mean that your system is unstable. For instance, my OC'ed i7 6700K displayed error on core #1 (hottest core) within 1-2 minutes every single time, while Prime 95 28.9 within 40 minutes showed no errors.

This. Games like Battlefield are a better test of system stability than a single stress test. Gaming tends to work a whole system. Just because you can dead lift 400lbs doesn't mean you can swim. However if you can swim means you wont drown in an ocean. My metaphor game is strong today!
