CPU heat ?

If a person runs a discrete graphics card instead of integrated graphics, does that lower the temperature of the CPU? Silly probably but curious. Thanks!

No, I can't see it making any difference. Not to mention it would have to be a situation that entirely removed the heat that was generated by a discrete GPU which inside any case increases the ambient temperature , intern causing the CPU to be hotter than it normally would.

But speaking in a special situation, where the heat generated from a discrete video card was not a factor I still can see it making a difference.but again that would have to be a very special situation that would not be normal day-to-day PC in a case conditions

To be clear I assume that yes it would increase temperature if just the CPU is installed and you were say playing a game and the CPU was rendering those graphics yes it would be hotter then if it discrete video card was doing the rendering but again Discrete video card will generate so much heat that the difference would be negligible

As far as I know, Intel's Igpu is rated at 4.5w TDP.

If you're on a laptop it could lower over all temps.....I have one that runs 15cels lower on the Intel HD 530 graphics. I thinks its because my Nvidia GTX 960 GPU is on the same cooling as my CPU...now if each the GPU and the CPU have separate heatpipes then maybe not so much . Laptop in my sig is the one I'm talking about.
Games I seen this happen are NFS games and Dirt 3 probably Dirt rally too but I didn't test cuz the FPS would be horrid.
