The RX480 should still enjoy a reasonable market share at it's price point. EG if VEGA is considerably more powerful, it will likely be considerably more expensive. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

6 months is nothing ... graphics cards get outdated in two years by my account assuming you don't upgrade the monitor two long years of incrementally lowering the settings on new games, and it ends up in pain of upscaling from lower res on that one game that makes you finally upgrade

And here is me maxing games on a 670 at 1080P and getting a well above average game experience.... if these cards are outdated, my 670 is ancient tech... sarcasm off the 670 is as powerful as the 1050Ti so.... lol

The higher-end the card is, the more tendency it has to be outdated. Look how popular GTX750 Ti still are for low-end gaming rigs, i see them being sold l in computer builds. However this might not be true for RX480, as this card fills the mid-range segment and AMD does not have R9 490X to compete with GTX1070/GTX1080.

RX480 release reminds me the release of HD6870 over HD5870 - a slightly slower new card with less power consumption and more features, but rebranded as mid-range instead of high-end. AMD does it again!!! Did anyone notice that?

Im not worried about it actually.

Remember my Upgrade Path 9700/9800 Pro AIW, X1950 Pro 512 AGP Now this 290, I dont upgrade gpus every year like some do here.

The RX480 is a great card for 1080P as previously mentioned, AMD doesn't seem to cut down performance on older cards like Nvidia does. Ignore the fanboys who love to argue.

Considering you can buy RX480's for less than $200 for the 8Gb models, and around $150 for the 4Gb models, they simply outperform Nvidia offerings.

Custom (factory overclocked) RX480 are 1440P GPUs having a very good vfm, so if AMD doesn't get a similarly priced GPU with over 10% of 480 out on sale, 480 will be still a great product.

Last gen high end was GTX 980 and R9 390X. RX480 basically matches those as a mid end card. What does that tell you guys? And if you're on 1080p, I don't think there is any need to worry about performance using high settings even for the entire year in the future. Then you'll most likely have to make some small compromises with settings here and there.
