Nope Ryzen is not gonna be in my house hold in a near future. I just got my hands on a dirty cheat I7 980X last month and even if i wanted, my wallet says no.

I will wait an se how intel counter this like release new cpu and/or maybe lower there prices and how Ryzen performs in the hands of reviews that not are in AMD´s ass sort of speak.

I am still happy with go old X58/LGA 1366 and that I7 980X upgrade from a I7 920 also just gave it bit longer life span unless mobo or cpu gives up off cause. It is old hardware.

Yeah that is deffently possible if Ryzen kan kick intel in there greedy ass and force intel to lower there prices. That will also effect prices on used hardware.

I will probably replace my media rig that sometimes act as a secondary rendering rig when I get busy with rendering.

It's got i7-6700 (non-k) and scores only 800 in Cinebench. Ryzen would be a decent upgrade. Not sure which CPU model I will pick though. I am waiting for official reviews.

And hopefully this will drive price down on E5-2683v3 at which point I could go for dual E5-2683v3 for around 3400 Cinebench score.

For you it would be ryzen or x99. 1150, 1151 felt like sidegrades.

I don't impulse buy, i just have a feeling a 390 chipset will show up in a year or 2, unless if they decide yo have a extreme enthusiast platform.

Well I'm not surprised waiting for benches is the most popular vote, which is how I voted.

The only things I'm skeptical about are how they compare to Intel's higher clocked quads in games, and why they clocked such low watt chips so low. I know they're good clock speeds for 6 to 8 core chips, but these are much lower wattage than most 6-8 core CPUs. Seems they could sell them at near same price without cooler, clock them higher, and call them Black Editions, specifically for gamers planning on using their own coolers, which seems to be most gamers anymore.

Please consider this AMD!

Even though my Xeon still handles all tasks he's given with ease, the urge to upgrade has been ever-present. Recently the upgrade itch has ryzen to an unprecedented scale.

Thing is, I want to build a SFF build and so far there's no sign of an ASRock mini-ITX board. If AM4 won't have good mini-ITX offerings, I'll probably side with Intel again.
If it pans out like that, I'll await Vega's and Volta's launch first. By then I should have gotten the answer I sought regarding mini-ITX offerings, have profound knowledge of Ryzen's real world performance, and Intel might have had enough time to adjust its prices. The only thing that throws me a little, is the conservative amount of PCIe lanes that AM4 provides since I tend to build rigs that are intended to last for more than 4-5 years.

They could easily come out with no cooler versions clocked a bit higher for gamers that are using more robust cooling, as most do these days, and call them Black Editions. The ultra low wattage of these chips makes it very plausible.

I have used AMD's wraith cooler before and those are darn nice coolers. I'd personally use them in my builds. They are very good low-profile coolers.

Now, the regular coolers, oh, yes, they can get rid of those.

Same. I mean, if I can achieve clocks the same as the higher priced chips, I see no reason to get any other 8 core.

Gotta be honest, I did buy an AM4 mounting bracket for my block just in case I do get one.
