My EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX has no display, but is detected by windows, the fans spin up, and almost outputs display to monitors.

When did this problem start?

I am presuming you have no video display

I got the card from a friend who said if I can fix the card its mine.
I have no clue how long he has owned the card
or when the problem started.
I have personally owned it for about 4 months now.
I'm using DVI and HDMI inputs.

I have the same issue with a 770 evga still works on sli but I can't use it for display have to use other card

Pull the heatsink off the card, replace thermal compound and thermalpads.

Make sure power supply is plugged into it, card firmly seated in slot even. Dont run sli for now.

Ensure the monitor is still good with another card

you can try to bake it. seems like something might have gone loose.

Definitely a last ditch effort, i wonder if the bios had been modified or replaced on that board too.

If it still doesnt work put it in a recycle bin.

Yeah i would agree...

1) blind flash to stock bios...
2) Inspect the board for damage
3) call the company and bitch that the card went bad... See if they can do anything
4) Bake @ 200 10 mins , re paste.

He got it second hand so warranty is out i presume

Not necessarily... many times the company doesnt know or care which distribution channel the card came from.

Most of the time their customer service has no idea -- unless he registered the serial to his name, there is no tie between the original and secondary owners.

Check the gold traces on the Graphics Card, that push in to the Motherboards slot, one or more may be broken.
If it is you might be able to repair it.

NOOOOO! If it doesn't work I'll pay for snail mail and put it under a rework station with a hot air pencil. You'd be surprised how often cards can be saved after reflowing the solder. My highest performance card right now is a GTX 470 (the old Nvidia Fermi space heaters)

Actually if I reflowed it and it worked, I'd more than likely send it back to you. I'd feel guilty knowing it was that simple of a fix (if that was indeed the fix). So I guess what I'm saying, if all else fails and you live somewhere where shipping to Ohio isn't too bad, send it and I'll give it a shot during lunch.
