It would seem that AMD has been making internal, top-secret demonstrations of its upcoming RX Vega GPUs. The company was in Beijing, China yesterday, sowing some thoughts and knowledge on its upcoming Ryzen 5 line of processors. Yet AMD apparently also found the time to tease its upcoming high-performance GPU (which apparently, and unlike it's competitors GPUs, also carries a soul.)

From what can be gleaned from the pictures, this physical manifestation of Vega does away with AMD's Fury X small size (achieved through water cooling). Instead, the coolers seems to be a monolithic piece which totally encloses the card, in an attractive, white and red color scheme with AMD's Vega branding etched on for good measure. We can also glean from the pics that AMD's RX Vega doesn't drop the tachometer feature that allows you to look at the operating LED's to glean the amount of workload on the GPU, with switches that are likely to allow for "OFF/ON" positions for the LED's and for "RED/BLUE" coloring.

Why is it not out yet?

That was just for RX 500 series. Vega is RX Vega. Meaning it's a separate thing. Although, I don't mind 1 week release delay if that means it'll be better experience from the start. We've waited for it so long, why not 1 more week, right? Still being very optimistic...

Who knows, it's performance may be disappointing vs the GTX1080Ti...

If they price it right, it should still do well. Having said that, companies need halo products for a reason...

Maybe it totally annihilates even GTX 1080Ti, but it's just not ready for release yet. We just don't know at this point.

Now that would be something... It will probably outperform the 1080Ti in DX12 Vulcan titles but in DX11 non-Vulcan? Guess we still have to wait as usual....

Ok, agreed on that one.

I've been tempted by the 8GB RX 480 as it offers excellent performance/price, but it's somewhat useless for 4K. This is coming from someone who almost exclusively buys Nvidia.

It certainly would be something. And if that was indeed true, I hope they are also already cooking a response to Volta. Coz they're gonna need the answer for it as well. I mean, NVIDIA set a bar really high with 1080Ti. The vanilla Volta can't possibly be slower than 1080Ti. Meaning AMD will have to go really aggressive.

A low quality picture of a laptop displaying low quality shots of the card.

Can we go deeper?

WHOOOOOMMPPHHH
Must have been taken on an iPhone

I fear that too (not only TI but casual 1080) because this card was ready back in mid 2016... should launch at the end of 2016... still nothing - means that price/performance sux too

HBM2 wasn't ready in mid2016, so how could Vega launch then?

Why not get a 1070? You can find em for about 350-370$

And hynix screwed the pooch. Vega must have samsung chips.

ignore him; the noobtrolls are many in this part of the woods! :)

did we not have a lot better picture before from some event? this shows seemingly the same details...but in worse quality.

Its essentially two rx470s on one die. I dont think itll be that impressive.

Still not ready. AMD wants this thing clocked somewhere around 1500 - 1600MHz, and the yields are not ready.

Heck rumors point to the RX 580 (Coming out in 1 month) being clocked at ~1350MHz when imo it should be at 1400 - 1500. They still need time...
