NZXT announces today the Kraken G12 kit, allowing users to use their liquid AIOs to better cool their GPUs. Lower temperatures at lower noise improve both gaming performance and experience. By mounting an AIO, like the NZXT Kraken Series, users can significantly lower their GPU's temperatures compared to its stock cooling, increase overclocking performance, and reduce noise output for an improved gaming experience. An update to the previous Kraken G10, the Kraken G12 allows for easier installation and wider compatibility with more than 30 popular liquid AIOs on the market.

"Being able to play the latest games at the highest settings, without sacrificing performance is something all gamers want. While aftermarket graphic cards have improved lately, most stock cooling systems still can't reach the performance level of liquid cooling. That's why we decided to design the updated Kraken G12 to be easier to install and support the latest liquid AIOs" says Johnny Hou, NZXT's founder, and CEO.

Kraken G12 main features:
  • 40% better cooling over stock GPU coolers
  • Newly redesigned bracket for easier installation
  • Compatible with more than 30 liquid AIOs on the market
  • Cooling: 92mm dedicated fan for both memory and VRM, compatible with aftermarket VRM heatsinks
  • Support for both reference and non-reference AMD & NVIDIA designs graphic cards
MSRP: USD $29.99, available now in matte black and matte white.

Surprised the 480/470 are supported as on the reference cards the VRM's are at the opposite end of the board than the fan so will get next to no airflow.

Crappy open design, what it does need is the AIO mount, and a type of slide mount for the fan so it can be positioned where it's needed, and preferably enclosed to direct the air.

Do not install the G12 on your 480/470 if the VRM are on the left side of the board. I was going to install this on my computer with an MSI Geforce GTX 970 4G and after speaking with NZXT engineers they informed me that it wasnt compatible. They said the reason was because the VRM would have no direct cooling. I saw that many people said it was still possible as long as you put heatsinks on the VRM anyways. This isn't correct either and will damage your graphics card. It might work for awhile but, long periods of time will damage your card with no direct cooling.

I asked NZXT what my best options were for the Kraken G12 and they responded with "NVIDIA REFERENCE CARDS OR AMD REFERENCE CARDS". These would be the founders series cards if you do not understand what a"Reference card" is. However, the Kraken G12 can still be used with NON-Reference cards just not with all of them. Most likely if you can install the bracket onto your GPU and the bracket is fully in place without touching capacitors, VRM, VRAM you should be "okay". Please remember you need to make sure the VRM are getting direct cooling from the 92mm fan.

I'm currently waiting to see if NZXT has a list of non-reference cards that the Kraken G12 is compatible with to save us consumers a long time of pain. I am deeply upset at the fact that I bought a G12 bracket and Kraken X62 to find I couldnt use it due to the design. I wont be buying a new graphics card right now so the Kraken X62 is just going to collect dust until I can. Eventually I'll have my GPU cooled just not my current MSI 970.

I understand that it works on a 1060, but I have a custom PCB, and I can see too that is says it supports non-ref cards, but I have aluminium heatsinks on my VRM, and from pictures it looks like it won't clear. I just want support, not be told like a kid to read the article.

I wish they made full block AIO cooler for reference cards.
I don't want to go watercooling way, and middle path would be great.
Why is this not a thing yet?
