Can you please analyze this benchmarking report?

Is it normal to get such a low score for my graphics card and SSD?

I mean, my HDD is faster than my SSD... what the heck?

Since even the slowest SSD should easily run circles around the fastest hard drives, there clearly is something wrong - even if connected to a legacy SATA port, your scores should be much better.

Have you checked your cables to ensure they are securely fastened? Is the SSD connected to a SATA 3 (6Gbps) port? You might try a different port.

You might check out the SanDisk Dashboard program. It has diagnostic tools.

I'll give you a hint. Any benchmark that claims to test all of those things and does it in under 2 minutes, is not an accurate benchmark.

If you want to benchmark your CPU, get a CPU benchmark. If you want to benchmark your GPU, get a GPU benchmark. If you want to benchmark your HDD/SSD, get a storage benchmark.

newtekie1 is right, but Black Panther is right to be, and should be concerned with those results.

The program Black Panther used is just a benchmark program, not a stress test. It doesn't take any specialized algorithms to measure bandwidth over a bus to determine benchmarks. So the scores shown for his SSD are clearly concerning.

The program used is not a diagnostics or troubleshooting program either. So it must be determined if the problem is with the interface, the SSD itself, cables, or a bug in the program. Using another benchmarking program is a start. And if it too shows lousy SSD performance, and the drive is securely connected, then a diagnostics program is what I would do.

I get what you are saying but most the time those tests are trash man.

I was looking for a RAM benchmark test actually, found this and got more worried about my SSD now.

It was actually connected to a 3Gbs port now I put it on a 6Gbs port... probably the last time I cleaned the pc I removed some wiring and forgot about it!

I downloaded the Sandisk dashboard, and found this:

I would backup or clone the dr. Then wipe the disk & flash the updated firmware ,clone back the drive & retest. If your lucky the dr will reset

I've had 2 SSDs in my life, a Sandisk and a Crucial. I had issues with my computer for years and once I got the Crucial the problems went away. It was one of the first SSDs they made so I'm sure they are loads better now. I remember it was $120 for 128GB and that was cheaper than any other brand.

Not that this post is helpful or anything, just saying.

Ok don't panic.

1. Make sure you back up things. Twice. If the reading is screwed you want two copies. One of the backups will bound to be good.
2. Write zeros on the SSD. Yes, yes I know. Shouldn't have too. With that being said that can fix bad blocks if they are not to far gone.
3. Make sure you are running TRIM when its all done.
4. Update the firmware!
5. Retest. Post results on TPU
6. ????
7. Profit.

On a side note @Black Panther you should never exceed 50% of an SSD if you want it to last. This allows TRIM to wear better. In other words if you need 60 gigs of space, buy a 120gb SSD.

Quick question, yesterday I discovered that I had a bad memory stick. Could there be a relationship between this and my failing SSD? I don't think so because removing the bad stick made all the crashes stop, but thought I'd ask here just in case.

I wouldn't think so but, honestly that's beyond my pay grade. With that being said you are an Uber Mod. Hit up one of our reviewers. Mainly @cadaveca. Hes about the only one I would trust anymore around here. With the exception of a few old timers most newer members are a pack of feral ree rees.

Only if the there was a common cause for the failures. For example, if your system took an extreme power surge, the surge could damage both the RAM stick and the SSD. But I think the odds of an event like that taking out only those two items are pretty slim.

Did you suddenly notice poor disk performance? Or did you think all was okay with this SSD until you ran the benchmark program?

It's a weird story really. So I was having these random crashes, but only while browsing the net and never while playing Fallout 4 which ran as smooth as butter.
To cut it short, I ran memtest and found a bad stick.

Then all of a sudden, Fallout 4 started stuttering a lot. The reason isn't because I have 8GB RAM now instead of 12GB because the game used to run fine even when I only had 6GB a couple of months ago.

I was thinking there was still some problem with the new RAM so I searched for RAM benchmarking programs... and found the one I posted about in my first post.

You run enough stupid benchmarks you will eventually find something "wrong" with your computer. Just do a back up and follow what I said. It will at least give you an idea as to where to go.

Not really, only Windows Memory Diagnostic, memtest and the one I started this thread with, which made me check the S.M.A.R.T. of my SSD...

I'm not very worried about the backup. On this SSD I only have the OS, Fallout 4 and Skyrim so I'll just back up my save games

If I don't solve the stuttering (am I right in thinking the game is stuttering because of the SSD?) I'll buy another SSD and reinstall.

Yeah a bad SSD will cause stuttering but, I'm not seeing why you should buy a new one yet. Just try what I said and reinstall. See what fruits that bears.

Yes I agree, I'll definitely try updating the firmware and reinstalling first because I'm not really within budget for a new SSD right now.

If the ssd has a software suite where you can erase the drive use it.

Samsung uses Secure erase to do so.
