[Case Gallery] mrw1986's Rig

Thanks for the suggestion, but after a lot of homework I've decided on the Corsair, this whole list has been ongoing since February and it's my final list :)

I have that PSU, it's amazing, quiet and solid. Easy to route the wires you do use out of the way. And it comes with a-plenty of them! You'll be happy!

I didn't check the G.Skill link, but if it isn't, do yourself the favor and get the HZ's with the Micron D9's.

Looks like it'll be a good system. Mine is running like a champ. And my Freezer Pro isn't lapped and it still cools pretty damn good for a cheaper HSF solution, it's worth it's price. Hope that job goes through for ya!

Ditto. I even saw some guy who was able to somehow run GTX's in SLI on an HX520.. I.. don't believe him, and I don't have the funds to test it myself.

On the D9's amazing price for the power those things have, I got the non D9 G.Skills in my rig now, still good though. Don't know how necessary the slot cooler is with a GTS that has direct exhaust.

Yeah, I wouldn't think GTX's in SLI would be easy on that PSU, even though it's SLI ready, it'd be working pretty hard and it'd definately be strained and may succumb to premature failure. But it's a very well built unit, I believe Seasonic builds them for Corsair.

And Diablo, remember, those 8800's are like furnaces, they are known to increase the ambient case temperature in most situations, so good airflow in the case is key. I'm planning on doing a mod to my case to have better exhuast for my x1950pro since the X2 cooler exhausts the hot air right at the PCI-e Slot. A simple 80mm fan at the rear pci slot area will suffice, and since I do not have any other cards but the x1950, it will work for me.

And Diablo, you could probably sell your current sticks and buy some D9's without losing too badly, sure it'll cost you in the end, but it could be worth it if you OC. Plus the new heatspreaders on them look awesome! The image on Newegg is of the old heatspreader, I took some pics and posted them here:

Take a look! They are nice!

Hah, ya I know, I just bought them like a couple weeks ago, but I can't OC with the board I have at this point (there's literally no way to overclock on an ECS PT890T-A). Even when I do OC, I'm either just going up to 2.8Ghz(350x8) or 3.2Ghz(400x8), so no big deal.

Do you use Clockgen to attain OC's?

Just curious to what you were usin, I'm not familiar with that board, but from the few ECS boards I've seen in the past, their OC support was bleh at most. My Dad had an ECS board forever, it was a socket 423 P4 board, ran like a champ for what it was.

I like the fact that you are using the rare x700!!! A capable system worthy of any workdesk nook! 6 of 10 my good man!

Btw Polaris, I just saw the Wii mote playing the original star trek theme and I though of you. Er, Kirk anyways. He's sexy.

Thanks erocker for the rating! Ya I bought the card off a coworker for $20 because the fan literally flew into pieces when he was using it. So I bought the Arctic Cooling Silencer Rev. 1 Fan for it and it works like a champ. Plays most games with settings on medium-high. My RAM is what's holding it back, 1gb in Vista Ultimate is no fun :(.

Kursah: They are the d9 chips, same ones you just bought actually :)

Nice! Those'll treat you great! And it's not like the system you currently have is crap, but the one you'll be getting will be amazing in comparison. I went from an old P4 630 1GB DDR ATI X850XT PE system to what I have now, and my system is easily 2x faster if not more!
