How do you clean your monitor screen?

Soap and warm water.
One microfiber cloth for cleaning, and another for wiping after I'm done.
When I’m cleaning all the screens in the house, or just the TV, I switch to using a sponge for the cleaning.

Forgot to add, I use homemade soap (Easy enough to make, and dirt cheap).
Soo there is no chemical BS in it, you can use regular soap just fine, but it does produce smudges on occasion.

Why should i clean my monitor?

The cleaning Monitor thing it's for those whom eat Chips or whatever food and drink coffee or Cola and then they go to touch the monitor without first cleaning their hands.

I don't belong to that category.

Lol, I won't do that, it's the spit spots in time I need to get that off...

I will buy some new more suitable cloth then, using the same "monitor cleanser".

Cleaner isn't necessary, nor do I advise it, with different coatings out there. A tiny bit of water (preferably distilled, but not mandatory) and a microfiber cloth is all you need. You only want the cloth damp, which is why breathing on it and then wiping is effective for tiny spots.

@Knoxx29 I envy you that you've never coughed or sneezed anywhere in the vicinity of your monitor and ended up with a dried spot you noticed later.

I do applaud you about your eating and drinking discipline near the computer. Many people are not capable of that.

Of course it had happened that i have sneezed in the vicinity of my monitor but that's why God gave me two hands to cover my mouth/nose when sneezing.

I use a 9 and 4 year old....they use sticky fingers and food. The odd thing is......I never see them touch the monitors and I rarely let them sit at the computer without me keeping an eye on them from a distance, but they always somehow end up getting finger prints all over the monitors.

When the monitors are off, I use a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water and a microfiber cloth. Once it's all said and clean, I come back into the room 10 minutes later and there are fingerprints on the damn monitors again - same goes for the TV and no kids are in the room, they're upstairs playing.

Age 2 - 10 are the magical years of unexplained things happening every where in the house......11, 12 and if your lucky 13 years of age seems to be a slight break then comes 14- 17 and all things sexual make you want to killz everyone...lolz

Are you saying you would get violent over something like that and spend the night in jail for assault or did you mean a verbal assault? Either way if it causes you that much stress put a lock on the door to your room with the PCs and rest easy.

Works well cleaning sticky keyboards as well

None of both mentioned, i was just saying, and there is no risk someone will touch my Machines because i live alone

The time i was living with my ex i told her not to touch my Machines and she never did.

I use Zeiss lens cleaner and a fine microfiber cloth made for eyeglasses. It is not that I think the Zeiss cleaner is anything special - it is just a really good deal at Sams (compared to Amazon) and it works. That said, is there a more renown name in optical lenses than Zeiss? So they aught to know what they are doing.

One word of caution however when it comes to the cloths (any cloth) or towel you may use. For sure, microfiber is best. But the important part is that it is clean. You can wash these cloths but you MUST ensure they are thoroughly rinsed so there is absolutely no soap residue left behind or you will be pulling your hair out trying to remove streaks.

And never, as in NEVER EVER use any fabric softener sheets in the dryer with any microfiber cloth or you will add 3 streaks to every 1 you remove.

Because of the window layout in my living room, my big screen TV is really subject to glare from one window or another - at least when the sun is out. Any streak becomes readily apparent for anyone sitting even at a slight angle. So no streaks and clean towels are important.

I have stacks of microfiber cloths I use for various things, including large microfiber towels for drying the vehicles. I wash them in the washer with just very small amount of detergent, then double rinse. Then I let them air dry to avoid picking up any softener residue left on the inside of the dryer from previous loads. Seems extreme, but it works.

I use a proper (I mean actual) micro-fibre glass cloth; put the corner under the tap to get wet, turn off screen, wipe with wet corner, then use the dry part of the cloth to dry it after.

No different than the type of cloth you get with glasses or sunglasses, but the one I have is large enough to cover my entire 30-inch Dell 3008WFP when laid flat. It's made for cleaning windows without any chemicals by a home-based business micro fibre cloth supplier called Norwex, and does a great job on mirrors too.
