EA Incentivizes Pre-orders with Exclusive Graphics Effects

I mean seriously, 80$ for this game is a callous statement on itself. And this doesn't includes the very near future "season passes" or extra DLC that would make the game unplayable in the future if you don't buy them....
I will probably wait a couple of months more or even an year until the price drops to less than 20$ like is for Need For Speed 2015 now. I bought it on a sale for 12$ and enjoyed the single player, even if the extremely boring repetition was there. And same world with night only scenes.
And btw, the Multiplayer was non-existing for that game, even is an online only game...
I bet that this new game is not worth more than 15$ anyways...

I'm not at all but enjoy your circle-jerk. Keeping this false news story up is beneath anyone who calls themselves a journalist. But I guess TPU is just a forum where you can post anything. No matter how much you hate EA, spreading fake news about them makes you 10x worse in my book.
You seem cranky. If there is a graphics change (in this case the tire smoke) between pre-order and normal versions then the title of the article is true and legit. You sure you don't work for a news station?
I think he meant that questionable title "exclusive graphics effects", that suggests You're not gonna get those at all without buying the preorder. And all it is about is just a different "exclusive colour", not the effect itself.
I mean I don't know anyone who wants tire smoke the same color as the magic smoke from toasted electronics. However it's a change in the graphical effect in the game, in this case the smoke.

This would be one of the lamest reasons to pre-order a game...

Not exactly. It's more like an exclusive item for Your car. Still - completely useless...

Are you actually defending this? Didn't you even read the short article where it clearly talks about it as not being just a color for the smoke, but the smoke itself:
While giving away bonus content, a tiny headstart in the game with more in-game currency or items, isn't new to pre-orders, this is one of the first times that a big production title is presenting exclusive graphics effects that otherwise won't be available even on machines with the most powerful hardware, or the most powerful consoles.

This is just a lie. Or is it the first time in history that a company has given out an exclusive skin or armor color as a pre-order bonus? What does the power of the hardware has to do with this?

This article makes people who actually raise valid points about bad company practices look like idiots.

First you sit there saying the article is "fake news" because of the graphical changes, then you come out with- Didn't you even read the short article where it clearly talks about it as not being just a color for the smoke, but the smoke itself:

Also as the article clearly states "one of the first times that a BIG PRODUCTION TITLE" Need that bigger? NFS is a pretty old game line, and the article didn't say "the first." It's a big game line however.

At this point I simple can't defend this for the sake of it for EA being EA with their dumb choices, but to spite you and your contradictions. We can go rounds in a PM chat if you want to take a minute to chill and eat your cereal but we sure don't need to pollute the thread. ;)

Exclusive change to a graphical effect via pre-order. Like if a game had low-res smoke and explosion effects but the pre-order had high-res details. It's a decently-blurred topic for sure.

If this game's pre order is about having tire smoke or not, or even having it in a different color or not....

you really should have your head examined

Cept' it partially is.

Honestly, I think this is just poor wording. They're most likely just talking about the color of the tire smoke, not the smoke effect in general.

Regardless there is no point in changing anything.

Can someone tell EA never to go full retard
Too late, they went full retard when they bought Westwood Studios and destroyed Command & Conquer.:banghead:

If it's a coloured tire smoke it's fine, if it is actually better tire smoke, it sucks. Tire smoke makes or breaks a nfs game IMO.

Heu... Ubi$oft is clearly the winner, EA is no match against it.

Ubi, pfft? EA has ruined just about every non- sports IP they have. Also every once in a while instead of leaving the IP dead they get the urge to dig up the corpse and skullf*** it because that is totally what they think we want. Ubi only crimes are making lame games and DRM to fiercely protect those games that no one wants.

Ubisoft is responsible for killing Heroes of M&M, and even keeps digging up its skulls too, 5 was half decent, 6 and 7 are failing reboots. AC they managed to fuck up on the regular, but crawls back up from the grave again this year. Oh yeah, there is Anno 20xx as well, killed by Uplay and stomped into the grave by its most recent release.

Then there is Tom Clancy and they are in full swing right now killing that after failing with The Division and the recent GR:Wildlands (AC with fake guns and free killshots).

But! Lucikly ubi has new IP! Wash Dogs: teenage press X to hack AC clone. For Honor: fell prey to clientside checks just like The Division and is a hack and cheat fest. Steep: what, who, or does it actually spell Sheep? I could go on, but....

Thanks for making laugh so hard that other people around me thought I was crazy.

Good God, thus thread went hilarious very quickly. I'm dying here.

100 euro for game its not for everyone. may be they make games to improve next intel 8 gen 6 core sales. i would be impressed only if they can make good games, optimized games also for old cpu good physics textures AAA whit Vulkana and music like dirt 4 who are worth plying to waste your time and life.

I usually think people give EA too much BS, but LMAO this is completely rediculous.

I guess there really must be 1 guy at EA looking for ways to make the world hate his company...

Coloured smoke comes from a certain type of tyres, not graphics' settings. Treat it more like a stupid hat for TF2, rather than an effect.

It was pretty obvious that EA meant a tyre smoke colour, not the smoke itself.

More like it's dead since the first Underground. Even HP 2 from 2002 was bad, but at least it kept the feeling of previous games.

We need to understand that the game has 3 variants now.

Classic - Hot pursuit, Porsche, High Stakes, The Run, etc...
Tuned - Underground, Carbon, Most wanted, etc...
Pro Racing - Shift, ProStreet, etc

I love the Classic variants up to Hot Pursuit 2 - 2002, the rest is a bunch of arcade shit.
I love the Tuned titles Underground 1 and 2 and Carbon, the rest is shit.
The Pro racing variant Shift is OK, Prostreet and the rest are anoying!!

The Best NFSs were Underground 1 and 2 and Carbon. The Rest don't come close....

Still can't stop laughing about the "always wet road" on Most Wanted hahahahaha....

This sounds like ramblings from an insane man. I have nothing to say to you anymore. I made my point and people still seem to think here that they are actually removing smoke instead of just having another colored skin for it. People don't read the comments or read classic apologists like you, and then think EA is actually doing something new here. Why do you think a big production title has never done something like this before? It has been done countless times.

If you had nothing else to say then why did you keep saying?;)

We can take this sweet lovin' in a PM and I'll prove you lost your case and resorted to calling me and tying me into rude items and descriptions. I'm still waiting for the blacklist my dear.
