AMD Crimson ReLive 17.7.2 Presents Some Issues to Users

Haven't tried installing the latest version yet. But back when ReLive first came out I had this very issue with the tab not showing up.

It's definitely not a new problem. The only thing that "fixed" it was several uninstall/reinstall attempts. It eventually showed up and I have no idea why. Tried both with and without DDU.

It's not just relive. It's missing the Enhanced Sync too. And Chill. God knows what else! And I thought we had solved the problem.

The issue is the Driver Package which fails upon installation, i had the same issue with 17.4.2 and then with 17.5.1, then 17.6.1 was completely broken, they had to release a fixed driver package the next day. It's like AMD does not even test their own stuff. I posted a report in on the AMD Forums each time something like this happen.

It just hit me that trying the Web Installer might fix the damn issue with relive like in 17.4.2 and 17.5.1

Fail after fail...

I see you have 7950, forget it. RTG ditched all GPU except Polaris for new features.

Also @RejZoR , can you give a confirmation that you WILL buy VEGA?

Confirmation? No. But I am leaning towards it. If leaked pricing is correct at +1100€ in Sweden which means around 1000€ elsewhere, even if it obliterates GTX 1080Ti, I think it's too much for me. GTX 980 for 650€ was already the most expensive graphic card I've ever had. If RX Vega does turn out to be a "poor Volta" situation (why else would they charge so much for it?) it means that GTX 1080Ti will get cheaper. Which means that'll be a likely choice for me. Or, of course a "lite" version of this 1000€ Vega that still performs and costs a lot less than a freaking 1k €.

Just disable V-SYNC for Window Mode and you're set. Had the same issues in Chrome on crappy Java/Flash based apps and web pages.

But the issue didn't even exist like 3 months ago. It's something NVIDIA f**ked up in drivers and even though I've filled a bug report almost 3 months ago, nothing got fixed yet. Which is ultra frustrating. Enabling Fast V-Sync by hand for every game profile is dumb, having it off makes image tear, having it on makes web videos corrupt like crazy when annotations appear or when you move the mouse. Didn't have a single issue with NVIDIA for years, this includes GTX 980. And now they f**ked this up so badly it's driving me crazy.

Btw, I have no clue what you mean with "disable V-Sync in Window Mode". Where? In browser or somewhere else? I was also getting horrendous image tearing in Chrome/Opera few versions back which is now luckily gone.

You can try the other way around : create a single profile for Opera (Opera.exe not launcher.exe) and choose other than Fast in the "Vertical sync" option. That's what I did to solve the problem.

Main rig R9 Fury X XD.

Well I've installed it straight over the top and so far no problems and no missing bits (only time I do clean DDU installs is if I have a problem with something)

I installed the newer revision with no missing stuff and the only thing i don't have is Enhanced Sync because would be bad to have it with Fury X right? wtf amd .

@Fluffmeister Dude you were right. Rej looks like will biy another Nvidia and keeps on riding the hype train for RTG though. lol

Ever since RTG came under Raja's control it is getting worse and worse

This issue has been confirmed by the Director of AMD's Corporate Strategy, Terry Makedon, on Reddit, who said that "Windows 7 being identified as beta and missing DVR is now reproduced in here and we will issue an update later today to address that. Sorry for that, hopefully we fixed it fast enough."

Where is that update?

Edit:

My bad, they HAVE updated it. Same version, but file name has changed date.

Hey, if you're willing to add 400€ extra if the stated price of 1100€ is correct, then I'll take RX Vega. Otherwise, I don't know why are you all smug about it. Why are you still on Fury X and not on SLi'd GTX 1080Ti if you're so full of cash?

How am I full of cash? I just wanna see you support RTG with your money thats all. :D

...users in both our forums and Reddit have been reporting issues after they install their 17.7.2 driver package: namely, the absence of the ReLive tab on the Radeon Control Panel.
Just installed it after running AMD's uninstall tool and Driver Sweeper. The only problem I had was it generated an error message at the end saying it wouldn't install. I ran SFC /SCANNOW (which found no problems), then tried disabling Avast.

Tried installing it again via AMD's clean install (as it said 17.7.2 was "partially installed"). This time it installed fine and GPU-Z detects it as 17.7.2 WHQL. The ReLive tab is showing and the new 100Mb record option.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like the GUI launches much quicker too, so what they're saying about less driver overhead seems true. Haven't tested it on games yet, but will report back.

I'm a bit upset Enhanced Sync only works with RX 400/500 series, but I expected that since the same is true of Wattman and Chill. I doubt any of those will steer me from the 1080 Ti though.

I just updated my AMD 17.2 and its now AMD 17.7.2 which is the new update, problem is now when I get on YouTube the screen goes black then flickers after that I see youtube again but I can't close it out. After maybe a minute it closes out on its own and it does that every time I get on YouTube.

It works perfectly fine with near zero issues if you are a casual user. However it has broken GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner, Trixx, and I can't overclock my card nearly as high anymore (1370/2000 instead of 1420/2100).

However none of this should be a big surprise - AMD removed a sizable amount of latency across the board! The only way you do that is with a massive overhaul to how the drivers communicate with the cards.

Only tried 2 games so far. It has lots of stutter issues with Dishonored 2 for me, mostly during combat, but Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 runs as well if not better than on 17.6.2. I Googled and found many on Reddit's AMD forum saying they had a lot of stutter too in a range of scenarios/games. Another problem was if I had Super Res enabled, Dishonored 2 would keep switching to a res higher than 1080p in 4:3, which made ReLive produce 1920x1440p videos. It's looking so far like they'll have to issue a major hotfix, or totally replace this driver with another. I can't believe this is even WHQL certified. Shows how much both AMD and MS are clueless with software.

Wait this isn't WHQL certified is it?

I assumed this was one of those super early beta releases lol

This is copied from the exact name of the driver file...

whql-win10-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-relive-17.7.2-july27.exe

If it was beta, it would say non whql.

Anyways, tested one more game. DiRT 4 seems to run fine on it. Maybe even a bit better than on 17.6.2.
