EK Water Blocks, the Slovenia-based premium computer liquid cooling gear manufacturer is releasing a new lineup of its renowned EK-Vardar fans. Developed in-house and first introduced in 2014, EK-Vardar fans have now evolved into new EK-Vardar EVO lineup. EK-Vardar EVO fans with Extended range (ER) of PWM operation feature a special Start-Stop function which brings a true 0dB experience for the absolute silent fan operation. The electronics of the new ER EVO fan has been specially tweaked so that the fan stops spinning if the PWM signal falls below a certain duty cycle value. Not only will you be able to enjoy a totally silent PC, but this feature is also very useful for preventing radiator dust buildup in idling PCs and prolongs the lifecycle of the fan itself.



EK-Vardar EVO
EK-Vardar EVO is industrial grade high-static pressure computer cooling fan, designed and built primarily for highest-performance computer liquid cooling systems. The Vardar EVO family of cooling fans carries the notorious name of a type of the cold northwesterly wind blowing from the mountains down to the valleys of Macedonia. It is a type of ravine wind, enhanced by a channeling effect while blowing down through the Moravia-Vardar gap, bringing cold conditions from the north to the Thessaloniki area of Greece. Most frequent during winter, it is blowing in the rear of a depression when atmospheric pressure over eastern Europe is higher than over the Aegean Sea.

Hydro-Dynamic Bearing and Start-Stop Function for Complete Silence!
The unique Start-Stop function featured with the EK-Vardar EVO ER models will ensure the user a true 0dB noise environment. If the PWM curve is set so that the PWM duty cycle is below 25-30% PWM (depending on motherboard model) the fan will simply stop spinning. If the PWM duty cycle is raised by the fan control software, the fan will spin up once again. EK-Vardar EVO ER models also feature Hydro-Dynamic bearing which is superior to double-ball bearing due to less friction, wear and vibration and consequently less noise.

Other key characteristics of EK-Vardar EVO fans are:
  • High-static pressure / low noise profile - unlike other general-purpose computer cooling fans, the EK-Vardar EVO family of fans is built specifically for computer liquid cooling systems, namely radiator cooling. The 7 fan blade design is optimized for high-pressure operation while maintaining the low noise profile throughout the whole operation range of the fan. Vardar's design and construction are also very suitable for high-performance air coolers or as case fans for restrictive cases with dust filters.
  • High-quality motor and bearing assembly - New electrical design, actively cooled motor windings and Hydro-Dynamic bearing (only with ER models) with 50.000 hours life span (MTBF) ensures uninterrupted operation for years to come. Precise Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) for fan speed adjustment allows performance on demand.
  • Sealed-edge fan casing - The classic, yet effective square shape of the fan casing provides optimal performance in either pull- (suction) or push (pressure) regime without hydraulic losses thus ensuring the optimal cooling capacity of your liquid cooling radiators. The classic shape of the fan frame also allows easy cable routing while grouping more fans on one radiator.
  • Timeless design - the EK-Vardar EVO fan fits subtly into any liquid cooling computer without drawing too much attention. Fans are available in a single (all black or all white) and two-tone (black with gray blades) color variations.

EK-Vardar EVO fans are designed and engineered in Slovenia by EK Water Blocks. Black EK-Vardar EVO ER fans are already available for purchase through EK Webshop and Partner Reseller Network. That is nice, a fan that has almost the complete range i like. 500 to 2000 RPM is good, 400 to some high number had been better.

i am getting tempted to switch, and then i see the price, €16,95 x 18 = €305,10

All of a sudden the Arctic Cooling F12 i am currently using are "good enough" (600 to 1300 RPM at 12V, and with voltage control they go down to 400 rpm)

Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
I like mine, they have a mellow sound that is noticeable, but not annoying, but for all the time my PC spends idle I have often wondered if I could turn off the water pump and fans and see how hot it got with no load and then use a PWM interface to start the pump first, and then the fans as the temps rise.

But the pump doesn't make almost any sound, its the fans, and I know for a fact I can turn off my fans while idling or light browsing on the internet. so I might have to get a few of these myself.

Getting a Phantek Evolv ATX case, 3 NZXT 140mm Aer RGB fans with the Hue+, and redoing my watercooling loop, as well.

*facepalm* You can have 0db fans with ANY fan (PWM or not) if you use a program like Speedfan and use your motherboard fan headers. You don't need "special" fans to have them turn off. lol.

All the fans in my PC remain off until the CPU or GPU reaches certain temperatures, then they turn on and ramp up according to custom fan curves for each fan header in the motherboard. But looks like marketing strikes again. ;)

Ah ok, makes sense. But that's also one of the reasons I run all my fans in voltage control mode (whether they are PWM or not) - no clicking at any rpm. ;) It could be argued that you can run fans at lower minimum rpm with PWM control, but I've found that even at 30-40% most fans are near completely inaudible (the ones I use are anyways).

Thanks for pointing that out though. I didn't know the Vardars were noisy like that.
