Video Game Addiction Possibly a Mental Disorder

On the college I have to argue with all the points. We played so many hours of games it wasn't funny, but at the same time in the dorms you could hear us cursing or cheering eachother down the hall, and drifters would go from room to room harrasing people.

Now I get together or call/VIOP/CB-FRS two or more buddies and we all play for hours (not quite every day but still quite a bit). I thnk when I was soloing WoW, HL, Doom, SC, Fallout, etc it did have an effect on my wanting to be social as much but now its actually a social thing.

LAN parties are great for playing and socializing, I agree!! I don't think gaming and anti-social behavior are linked per se, it's the typical loner solo for hours a day that I was refering to. On the contrary, LAN parties are another reason for people to BE social, especially people with an interest in gaming and it can even provide a comfortable/familiar atmosphere to draw the loners out of their rooms.

Good call! :)

I'm on my way to a LAN right now.. we run em weekly, 6 regulars (every lan) about 15 others who come at least once a month, and the usual walkins who are never seen again.

Compare it to a sport: instead of beating up each other, we beat up virtual other people. Instead of drinking copious amounts of alcohol, we drink caffeine. Instead of sleeping with every female in sight (or trying to) we just forgo sleep in general.

LAN FTW! *begins packing up the PC's*
