Toshiba Launches TR200 Line of SSDs

Utilizing its own third-generation, 64-layer 3D BiCS TLC memory, Toshiba launched a trio of budget SATA-only SSDs today. Available in the standard 2.5 inch form factor, the drives will have capacities of 240, 480 and 960 GBs and endurance ratings of 60, 120 and 240 TBW, respectively. Sequential read and write speeds are up to 555/540 MB/s, regardless of capacity. Random read/writes, which vary slightly by drive, are up to 82,000 and 88,000 IOPS; typical for a entry-level SSD. Toshiba is confident enough in the line to offer a three year warranty.

This is actually isn't boring.
It manages to to hit rock-bottom wrt performance, while being only slightly cheaper than an 850EVO that runs circles around it.

Are these basically the same as the recently released Sandisk/WD Blues? edit: Wait, those come in different sizes.

I wouldn't mind some of these cheaper SSDs in 2TB @ $500, like Sandisk (also, Micron has their own as well).

Just saying.. Cheap SSD is kind of attractive to me, if I can get 2TB or more (and worthless to me at other sizes). To me, it's competing with HDDs. 2TB SSD vs 10TB HDD.

Yes, but this isn't cheap. It costs almost as much as an equivalent 850EVO that comes with DRAM cache (and performs much better because of that).

I haven't looked at these Toshiba prices. My bad. I had the Sandisks in mind ($550 or so at 2TB). Samsungs are almost $700.

I don't mean to derail on Sandisk though.
