Slitherine and Games Workshop renew their relationship to offer a fresh approach to the Warhammer 40,000 universe - planetary 4X. Warhammer 40,000: Gladius incorporates the dark, gothic, far future science-fantasy setting in ways never tried before. A brand new, deep storyline has been created to combine elements of 4X gameplay with a combat-focused system. The evolution of technology, construction of infrastructures and exploration of an unknown world, goes hand in hand with the management of military resources, including heroes with special abilities and mighty war machines.

Warhammer 40,000: Gladius has been designed to give four totally different gameplay experiences, depending on which factions players choose. Space Marines, Astra Militarum (aka Imperial Guard), Orks and Necrons each have dramatically different characteristics, both in how they develop and expand and in the way they interact with allies and enemies. This gives the game virtually endless replay value and players the chance to play out the same experience in totally divergent ways.

In Warhammer 40,000: Gladius there is also a massive difference between playing solo or in multiplayer. The deep storyline was created from scratch to allow players to explore an entire world and lead the expansion of an empire from the ground up. The discovery of ancient artefacts and the custom-crafted quests will reveal the secrets of the planet and its mysterious history as the story progresses.

The real-time multiplayer system lets players build their own path to victory while fighting against live opponents, time and the natural perils that Gladius hides.

Dawn of War 3, released this year, was absolute drivel, especially compared to DoW 2 that came out in 2009. Best of luck to Sega and whoever they hire next.

DoW 2 wasn't exactly a star either. When compared to the first it fared even worse to the point whenever the conversation between the veered in that direction dow2 fans would throw out the 'if you pretend dow doesn't exist, dow2 isn't that bad.' caveat , only came became worth playing after they added the 'hoard mode' dlc

I thought DoW 2 was alright as far as the campaigns go, and even had some fun exploiting builds in the OC, but the gameplay change with one of the expansions (can't remember which) was annoying. Dawn of War 3 looked like unplayable junk in the gameplay department.

I'd say it's been downhill after Winter Assault on the overall.

I just dont get it, how on earth is Warhammer 40k so hard to do as a game?
There are so many and sooooo few are worth a damn....

This just looks like Civ to me really... soooo probably not very interesting.

This does not look like promising.
After Dawn of War II and Space Marine most of the games were... Not that great, except Space Hulk: Deathwing.
Star of the W40k games, the Dawn of War, failed with the third game. I still have no idea what they were thinking...

I really liked DOW 1 and 2, have over 200 single player hours in DoW 2 CR.
Did not buy DOW 3 yet as the SP campaign might not be that good.

This games looks nice to me, if the price is right i will buy it when it comes out.
