Umm, the point of 4k is detail and resolution. Lo-fi 4k is not 4k.

I really, really enjoyed Star Ocean: Till the End of Time

I picked up The Last Hope....played it until I got that stupid little girl with the godawful high pitched voice. Listening to her made me want to kick the TV screen in pure hatred....oh for the love of everything awesome with games, I hope for everyone's sanity, they redid her awful voice in this remake.

I won't lie, most of the voice acting in the game was sub-par, but that high pitched fake child voice for Lymle in The Last Hope is what actually drove me to stop playing the game.

I guess Square Enix never got the memo that rendering at arbitrary resolutions is a standard feature in PC land.

That memo should be implanted in Koei Tecmo employee.

actually it's not just a "upscaled" to 4k ... they did redo some model and textures

usually not a fan of remaster ... but if not console exclusive ... why not :p

The models look identical to me as do many of the textures.

You must be blind then, because I just clicked that Youtube link, and rendered it in 4k Fullscreen on my 4k Monitor, and its a night and day difference between the original and remaster.

Tubes doesn't give me a 4K option in the quality settings so I guess that could be it? Night and day seems like an exaggeration considering this is coming from Square Enix.

Edit: Downloaded the 4K version. Models still look the same. Only a handful of textures look new but some do indeed appear to be new so I was wrong on that.

Just glad that this game finally comes to PC. I played it first time on xbox360 (that awful disc changing towards the end), and then played it again on PS3 (with 600p resolution in battles). Now I can finally play this game the way it meant to be played. 4K or not doesn't really bother me since I only have 1440p monitor anyway.

I have the 360 version still saved on the second half of the game. The difference isn't noticable enough to repurchase the game on my Ps4 Pro or gaming PC and restart the game, even with the 2 buck limited discount. Now if it was a full remake instead of some slightly upscaled textures, that would be a different story

I'm not saying you are not wrong, I am however saying if you watching it on a 4k IPS monitor like I am AT the 4k youtube streaming of it, you would notice a difference night and day. I am seeing the native 4k of it all in real time. ugh nm.

I wasn't saying that 4k isn't a significant improvement over the 1280x720 or whatever it's running at on PS3/360 :p. I'm disappointed in another game being called a remaster when hardly anything seems to have been done.

... higher resolution texture are enough ... the game was nice too back in the day, why alter the model nonetheless
hardly nothing made.jpg
try to read the number on the ship .... upscaling to 4K is not enough to make it like the right side ;) and yep Remaster does not mean "redone" look at a movie/audio definition of remaster/ed
remaster
riːˈmɑːstə/
verb
  1. make a new master of (a recording), typically in order to improve the sound quality.
"all the tracks have been remastered from the original tapes"
(a.k.a. : higher definition which is exactly what has been done for that game :p )

I got it from Steam for $18.89
oh ... the price is nice too ... well better textures higher resolution and .... cheaper, what not to love :D

if it was only that.... tho it's rather probably the textures (and videos, right ... )

although it's said to be between 41 and 41.9gb, oh... you meant installed, well yep 55gb indeed
Maybe those too :p. I believe the original is somewhere around 20GB if I remember correctly. Uncompressed textures and new 4K videos would push it up for sure.

To clarify what I was getting at earlier:
I'm just not impressed with the overall work. I think a game/engine being able to run at whatever resolution (or framerate) isn't so much a feature as good and forward thinking design. It's always great to have more games freed from console exclusive status though.

with that angle of view, i agree.... you just needed a clarification on what is a "remaster" nonetheless, a textures upgrade is enough for me to warrant that call and make the game worth it
tho .... since the game is from 2009 and was console only, it needed a remaster, and given how it look on PC (1080p or whatever resolution) it's, maybe not impressive but not bad at all either (given the price also )

Maybe those too :p. I believe the original is somewhere around 20GB if I remember correctly. Uncompressed textures and new 4K videos would push it up for sure.
mmhhh 720p textures to 1080p textures uncompressed is enough to push it that high and i doubt the cutscene would be 4k rendered (i think the emphasis of that remaster is "FullHD" since 4k is not really something, tho with that game ... probably  60fps would not be too far fetched )

oh well, looking forward my 1440p monitor arrival (soon™) it's already enough.

I don't wanna be rude but moderate your terms if you don't like something only because you think is ok to say it.
If you are ignorant about something don't talk about it.
