With GeForce NOW a Billion Cheap PCs Can Now Taste Gaming, Too

Your underpowered PC can now pack the punch of high-performance GeForce GTX GPUs with GeForce NOW. Starting today, the game-streaming service, which launched a successful beta last summer, is available as a free beta compatible with most Windows-based desktops and laptops. GeForce NOW can connect gamers to their library of games from many of the top digital stores - and starting today that includes Uplay PC, Ubisoft's PC games portal.

"Ubisoft is excited that gamers playing acclaimed franchises such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege on Uplay PC can now enjoy outstanding play experiences on PCs and Macs thanks to NVIDIA's futuristic GeForce NOW service, without needing a high-end PC," said Chris Early, vice president of Partnerships and Revenue at Ubisoft. "NVIDIA is powering a high-quality experience that now streams a selection of Ubisoft's top franchises."

The New Way to Game
GeForce NOW gives gamers the freedom to enjoy high-performance PC gaming just about anywhere. It connects a wide range of Windows and macOS computers to supercomputers in the cloud, streaming 1080p graphics at up to 120 frames per second.

Since the heavy-lifting happens in NVIDIA's data centers, you can play the latest PC blockbusters at max settings, with smooth frame rates, even on PCs with low performance integrated graphics.

Simply connect to your library of games from popular digital stores, like Uplay PC and Steam, and start playing. Free-to-play games can also be installed directly.

GeForce NOW gets you playing faster than ever, as the system maintenance tasks are handled for you. Patches and driver updates are installed automatically, and cloud saves are enabled for cross-platform play.

GeForce NOW receives regular updates, including service enhancements, new games and additional data centers, the 10th most recently opening in Amsterdam.

Availability
The service is currently available in pubic beta for Windows- and Mac-based desktops and laptops in most of North America and Europe. The GeForce NOW app has been localized in French and German, with local language support for many top and diverse gaming experiences including PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, Arma 3, Garry's Mod, Fortnite and more.

i tried something similar to this by being logged into steam on my desktop running fallout 4 and also on my sisters netbook with integrated graphics and was able to play fine. at the time i would just click the stream or watch , (cant remember exactly what) and i could play from the netbook on high settings. granted the resolution would scale down on the netbook but other than that it worked great.

im going to see if i can replicate it now because its been a while.

I remember doing this with counterstrike 1.5 but on a lanparty

The Shield streaming thing from Chrome works best , I could stream 1080p 60fps with no observable latency.

Non-local streaming will always be a joke in my book. Even local streaming is iffy. If you've got a connection capable of streaming games anywhere near native quality you've got the money to buy the hardware .

It's not , now that I got 1 Gbps connection I can stream anywhere in the house up to 4K 30fps no problem.

It's not , now that I got 1 Gbps connection I can stream anywhere in the house up to 4K 30fps no problem.

I'm sure it's playable but even that's a fraction of the required bandwidth for uncompressed display. I'm far too fussy to tolerate it on anything larger than a few inches.

Obviously it's compressed but it still looks great and when I stream to a 1080p display it downscales and it looks almost pixel perfect. Of course I don't do that often since I can't actually run a whole lot of games at 4K 30fps.

Thats just basic. Higher quality like 1080p will cut your hours down. Right now its free during beta testing but it was suppose to have launched already.

Wonder if the delay has anything to do with them patching drivers for Spectre.
