All the miner software needs to do is name itself BeamNG.drive then. Unless they are using a crypto hash, but then every patch would break it.

Crypto blockchain can run on a couple of computers on an ethernet cord CPU mining, keep in mind. Difficulty adjusts. Yes, mining hashrate would drop, but little else would change.

I'd see this as being the best of all worlds, which is why I support it.

Developers would likely have to buy cards directly from the certificate authority that are exempt from signing (the cards themselves have signed, read-only, serialized BIOS). They can build and test freely on those cards but releasing the software to the wild would result in only other developers (or people that bought the cards second hand) being able to run it.

And that has nothing to do with hash rate. The two do not corelate. You are thinking of block size.

As for your solution, it's too heavy handed for me, but I doubt it'd ever come to that anyways. We'll just have to see what they can come up with.

Of course it is. But I've played both sides of the fence, and honestly what I hate the most about this whole thing is the divide it creates in our community. I can see both sides, and that only makes it doubly painful for me.

i wanted to upgrade my nephews PC, as well as (with less importance my own), thats not even CLOSE to an option with the current markets prices A GPU, a set of 16Gb's or 8Gb's of RAM, and a CPU would Easily cost what my entire PC cost me basically, and sadly, my budget after family costs, bills, and expenses, a new/upgraded PC just isnt there.....I feel Your pain OP, truly i do...I bought my Ram BEFORE the Sandy Bridge lineup was released & have done ALL i could to NOT switch to DDR4 & sink the $$ it costs into RAM, i know now, its not an option, if i want to upgrade My or my nephews PC, its gonna cost Big time....I knowsome price hiking has to do wit hthe depletion of stock from miners, and it would be easy to hate them, or blame them, but it wouldnt get me anywhere, and in them end, id stil be in the same place, without a PC for my nephew, or myself....just not meant to be i suppose. hopefully prices drop, & we can all have our "day i the sunshine" of glorious new components

Edit: I fear that crypto may have gone beyond simply wasting energy to something akin to a digital dark age: research projects that required GPUs is getting slowed by the cost of acquiring the machines to do it. Scientific discovery and advancements may begin slowing.

I think if you actually needed one right now, you would be a little upset too that you couldn't find one in stock that was anything close to what you needed for your rig. And then if one was in stock, try 80% markup. Try seeing both sides, neither one is evil and both have good reasons for how they feel about the other side.

If your card died and you couldn't get warranty repair for it, replacing it could cost in the neighborhood of $1200-1300. That's fundamentally why gamers are furious.

My R9 390 is already out of warrant. If it died today: I would have to either choose between laying down $550 for an RX 580 8 GiB sidegrade or a Xbox One X for $500. The latter is more appealing even if it means my PC game collection is going to collect digital dust for a few years.

Na you can't blame the crypto Miner from buying up all the GPU's.. I place 100% blame on MSI, gigabyte, Asus, etc etc for allowing miners to bypass the retail channels and going directly to the manufacturer and buying pallets upon pallets of video cards that don't even have a chance to make it to the wholesaler.

If or when cryptic mining becomes unprofitable that's where everybody should boycott these huge manufacturers and just buy used cards and let them feel the squeeze that they've placed on the typical gamer that just wants to build himself as simple gaming computer..

Wasn't it a Mining Company in Iceland that actually rented a Boeing 747 jumbo jet and packed it full a video cards for mining? If its true that fucker hauled a lot of cards

Ironically pre-builts aren't as affected or at least not yet. If only they didn't suck so hard. Like the first thing you do is throw the mobo and psu in the trash and then replace with quality parts. Unfortunately you just added 2-400$ onto whatever the prebuilt cost. Which won't cover the gpu and memory mark up for stand alone part purchases, but is at least half way there.

One benefit is the amount if money going into in industry keeping it strong. In the end it will pay off for end users. I'm just not paying full retail right now. I'll let someone else do that
