Battlefield V Takes Players Back to World War II

These triple A shooter franchises are becoming about as ridiculous as the Fashion busuiness where they keep rotating the same trends and hypes with a slight twist, and everyone is busy looking at one anothers' ideas.

Sad.

Are you kidding? The length of the conflict has nothing to do with how much content you could create. If you really wanted you could create an alternate timeline wherein the Falklands escalated into WW3, the cold war become hot :)

Then go play call of duty. They Activision likes to fantasize about the USA being invaded/taken over/controlled by Russia.

With the odd exception (being BF2142) Battlefield has always been about actual wars. A lot of shit happened in WW1, A lot of shit happened in WW2, A lot of shit happened in Vietnam, A lotta shit happened in IraQ

Not a lot of shit happened in the falklands apart from the British army opening a can of whoop ass on salty Argentines. The British Army went out there to defend the people who voted to stay a British Colony.

We sent loads of people across there to fight. Some hardware on a boat malfunctioned or didn't work as it should have resulting in the loss of a Navy ship or two or damage to others. Possibly some chemical weapons used by both sides. Argentines claimed they used tear gas to clear barracks, British Army claimed they used something far stronger and lethal but those claims have never been proven.

War is hell but compared to all the other wars. Its a walk in a park. It lacks that excitement and dramatic affect that knowing what a shithole soldiers are fighting in and all the atrocities and war crimes one side or the other might have committed or in the act of committing.

It was a boring war.

you better write an angry letter to Sony then and tell them to get a move on. They need to make good with their time as they are compressing two years (PS5 is rumored to be a 2020 release) into 8-10months.

Better get your cheque book out to pay for that premium R&D time and all the staff Sony need to hire to make sure you get your PS5 released the same time as BF:V

Sniper Elite is not as big a brand as Battlefield, but it has a unique opportunity to explore wars other than the usual WW/Vietnam/WoT crap, because it doesn't have a greedy publisher breathing down its neck. I'm guessing Sniper Elite 5 could be based on the Korean War (something very rarely depicted in FPS/TPS), and something game publishers probably avoid so as not to upset China.

For some reason reading your post reminded me of VIETNAM by a publisher that was called 'Gathering Of Developers'.

That game was pretty hardcore back in the day.

Unfortunately they got bought out by another company who then got bought out by another company and this company doesn't really do much with the fps genre apart from make GTA games

Meh, boring. It will just be battlefield 1, which was 4, which was 3, just with a different skin and maps. And you will need to pay $120 for all the content, and it will be chock full of microtransactions, and the single player will be boring, and the multiplayer will be fast paced CoD style action, just like the last 3 or 4 battlefields.

There are some really great shooters out now, like verdun and red orchestra 2. These mass market AAA games will be ruined by microtransactions, not worth taking any interest in IMO.

If they finally made BFBC3, I'd be interested, but modern EA and dice could never make a proper Bad Company game today.
