Next Major Windows 10 Update Named "Spring Creators Update"

AND JUST TO MUDDY THE WINDOWS 10 WATER

Microsoft has confirmed Windows 10 S will be a "mode" available in all versions of Windows, and added a prediction it'll be used by a "majority" of users.

Windows 10 S was created to simplify administration for school sysadmins by running only apps from the Windows Store and designed to run on low-cost hardware. Microsoft also offered 10 S on the Surface laptop. It's, basically, a slimmed down and restricted flavor of Windows 10 that drives people to Edge and Bing and Redmond's Windows software souk.
On March 7, the corporate veep of Microsoft's operating systems group, Joe Belfiore, tweeted the product would disappear and become a "mode" in Windows. Now he's revealed more detail in a blog post that said customers like 10 S but "the naming was a bit confusing for both customers and partners."
Microsoft's therefore decided that "starting with the next update to Windows 10, coming soon, customers can choose to buy a new Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro PC with S mode enabled, and commercial customers will be able to deploy Windows 10 Enterprise with S mode enabled."
"We expect the majority of customers to enjoy the benefits of Windows 10 in S mode," Belfiore wrote. Which is hardly a ringing endorsement of Windows 10 in its dominant configuration!

So we can expect another 10% increase in bloatware install that continues to be uninstallable garbage-ware, while guaranteeing the most useless windows store apps still have to manually deleted like all other Malware.

Ah, the comments here are so refreshing... Wait, they are not.
Do you people really have nothing better to do? Is shitting on Microsoft THAT good?
P.S.
MacBooks didn't have problems with upgrades? Almost funny...

But MS is just copying Apple and trying to make a walled garden. Never mind the keylogger that Win 10 comes with if you send full diags to them.

I find it funny every time i leave the computer untouched Microsoft-photos try's to connect to some were and permanently blocking it stops you from using photos working correctly.

As for Apple i will never buy one of their products as are worse, Apple are just plain bully's.

BUT BUT but Microsoft have made it so easy to hate them ( Every Retail Win 10 box has a Voucher for BOG ROLLS that last for the life of the Product. ( Guess you have lost that Voucher :))

No, I would wager most people here complaining about MS would rather not have to. They effectively give us a new OS every 6 months. If that’s not a recipe for permanent, untested betas, I don’t know what is.

This means people will have stuff broken that was not broken before, settings realigned (because it is a new install), OS unoptimized when users did have them optimized. Programs may or may not continue to work.

Then, as if that wasn’t enough, they send out patches like happened last month to fix some issues, and caused USB connections to disappear. If you were lucky it was a printer, or a mouse. For some it was the keyboard. That makes for an interesting attempt to roll back a patch when the keyboard doesn’t work.

So yeah, MS continues to botch the permanent rolling OS, with users as testers. Honestly, I for one like MS. I wish I didn’t have to complain about this ineptitude in providing constant change that doesn’t have to constantly change.

Keylogers? No, please, go away with your conspiracy theories.

But ok, losing settings? Since when? Users optimising OS? How. exactly, can you "optimise" it? Disabling services and turning off visual effects does not count and those tend to stay set as before after upgrades, IIRC.
There would be bugs even if they released each three years, yet even on 6 month schedules majority of users have none. There are hundreds of millions of computers running W10, the issues are not that widespread and never have been.
What it usually drills down to is bad drivers or apps, much rarer the Windows itself. People really love to pin the first ones on MS, while it isn't their fault (usually)...

I will give you the one about the upgrades being reinstalls in practice. While they have made them less painful (more improvements coming with Spring Creators Update, too), there is room for improvement. Ah, and the apps are not coming back now after being uninstalled.
P.S.
Not sure what this has to do with monthly patches. Everybody suffers stupid bugs, Microsoft is usually good at fixing them, though. And nothing on market beats 10 year OS support, except some Linux LTS distros.

Sure, what you think the text says under Privacy \ Feedback and Diagnostics is ?,

Full will collect browser data, app data and usage inking and typing data.

And as for basic it don't really say if one or more of those are done, Seems to me they are trying to give the illusion that Basic does none of the other Full option does were really it says sweet F all and is what ever MS seems necessary which could be frigging any thing.

@Easo I pronounce you as The Microsoft White Knight! They could have none other that would so staunchly defend them.

I myself have done a deep dive into the diagnostic data and have looked into what is contained in it. Yes, Full Mode is something that you should avoid at all costs simply due to how much and what it's collecting. Basic Mode is not nearly as invasive, it contains none of the most damning of the data that Full Mode contains.

But under basic they use the word necessary and don't actually say what that is, so to me it can change any time when ever they feel like it.

EDIT: which they have already done in the passed.

Yes, I know that but that's why we'll have to stay vigilant in making sure that they aren't changing the meaning of the word "basic".

Vigilant i am as Spybot Anti Beacon disables the crap, and there is enough suckers out there for MS to collect data from.

All is forgiven for this good laugh!

Three cheers for
The Microsoft White Knight!

huzzah!

suckers is the key word here. So many people believe that m$ is only collecting performance data.

Good to know that you better engage in conspiracy theories. White knight? Really? Just because i have an opinion that Windows 10 is not exactly bad?
Please...

Huh ?, they clearly say they collect typing data, sorry but that's keylogging, they just did not call it that for obvious reasons.

So, no conspiracy theory.

"I get you like a moldy block of Cheese
trim off the mold and underneeth there is good cheese" :)

Some like moldy cheese too :).

what conspiracy theory are you referring to again?

Being the White Knight here isnt exactly a bad thing. However, I have an opposite opinion of m$ and win 10, along with a few others, so that makes us all conspiratists? I could go into a long diatribe on this, but its not worth my time.

The problem is that all of the "current" 3 major Windows have all had issues so there's no perfect answer as a user. Win 7 lacks the DX12 support and is pretty awful about driver support anymore. Win 8.1 was always a mess. And Windows 10 has DX12 and great driver support, but is bloated as others have said. Also the home networking with Win 10 and multiple systems is atrociously bad (unless you go all-out and build a domain).

As far as the Linux mention...yes I know I've used it for many years. It's great for the limited apps Linux can use. But an OS that can't run 98% of games isn't much of an option for me. I've dual-booted them before though using Linux for web browsing and some minor productivity things, then booting back to Windows for games. I bounce between games and apps so often though that I ended up going back to just Windows though. Maybe someday WINE will reach the point of actually being able to run Windows apps and games well.

Then why does Windows 10 run better than Windows 7 ever did on the same hardware?

Worst update ever! Won't install doing both auto and manual. Failed over and over again. I got tired of it and reqedit it to not prompt the update and it still does it. I hate MS so much.

Before Fall Creator update shattered my Windows 10 and broke it all to hell to the point a recovery disc couldn't save it, Windows 10 Home worked fairly well for me. My HTPC had no issues on my network and allowing me to path to it from my Win 7 PC that I've been using to rip DVDs and copy them to the HTPC. No issues with no user password, it just connected.

After the forced Fall Creator's update that happened over night and everything broke. I re-installed Windows 10 and made sure it was fully updated before starting things over. Now that Windows 10 is on version 1709 my Windows 7 cannot path to the Windows 10 without a username and password. Okay fine, easily fixed on Win 7 (created passwords for the users and netplwiz to allow the main account we use to log into Windows without a password). However, every single time I restart my Win 7 computer I have to enter a username/password (because the "save credentials" check box doesn't do anything) to path to the HTPC. I can't find a workaround for fixing this issue - granted it's a minor irritant, but if I'm not home and the wife or kids want to watch a movie from the HTPC after turning on the Win 7 computer they cannot connect to it. I'm not giving them my admin account password, so they're SOL until I enter it.

The one where it was said that W10 has keylogger.
