Top Level AMD Veteran Chris Hook Leaving the Company

Couldn't care less about marketing persons leaving AMD.

Heck, I actually liked the fact Raja left.

The reason to do that, I guess, is to let some of the miner money flow into AMD's pocket instead of OEMs?

You should care. Have you looked at the stock lately? AMDs quarterly reports have been abysmal. On RyZen launch day AMD had a stock value of $14.90. Yesterday it closed at $9.82 for a market cap loss of 2.72 billion. Keep in mind that is against a market up 27% since RyZen launch day. Something is really wrong here. Investors are looking at the books and fleeing. Employees seeing the day to day are fleeing. We need AMD to do a heck of a lot better or we will be stuck with Intel and only Intel.

Yeah, 320x240 was not considered high res back when he joined ATI, because he joined ATI in 2001. I don't think 320x240 was considered high res in 1991.
Is there a marketing guy that can actually talk sense and not embellish unnecessarily?

Chris was making a joke, ffs. It was on his personal Facebook page and it was only meant for his friends.
None of you clearly know him and I'm both saddened and angered by the comments here about one of the nicest guys in the industry.
As to why he left, I doubt it has anything to do with AMD's current situation and more to do with his personal life and circumstances, but I guess that's not a valid reason for you lot of hyenas?
The comments in this thread really makes me sick.

Yes. Looks like big fish is shorting.

AMDs quarterly reports have been abysmal.
Semicustom revenue up, Computing in graphics revenue NEARLY DOUBLED, gross margins +4%.
Yeah, "abysmal".

Because actual reveal happened way earlier. Mid Jan '17 stock was at 9.5$ and a year earlier a fraction of that.

Maybe AMD needed a change. Not that I disrespected, but AMD had the worst Sale/Marketing team. IMO

Actually, I think this is one of the few statements that no one will dispute, whether they root for Intel, Nvidia or even AMD.

I certainly won't. I mean amd pretty much wrote their own "Poor Vega!" campaign....

Way back, when AthlonXP and Athlon64 were way better buys than Pentium4 or PentiumD, nobody knew about it. I had to sell these to every friend that came to asking to come up with a configuration for them. They were always like "What, I won't get an Intel CPU???"

i remember them days when AMD had all the overclocks and benchmarks in their pockets!

AMD need the Jim Keller of graphics.
Or an ex SGI or dec graphics guy someone that has a clue.

Maybe a new marketing department. Actually they have needed that for about 20 years or so.

If AMD ould find someone that could do what Jim Keller did to zen then they might make a graphics card that can compete.
eg one of the ex 3dfx guys who was ex SGI I think
