Microsoft Rolls Out Windows 10 April 2018 Update (build 1803)

This one seems to have blasted the OS on my 7900X system. What a crock!
With Fall Creator a clean install had the least problems.

Also Fast Startup was automatically turned on again after updating. That option does not go well with my old ass TUF X99 board. Every time I have that on I get BSOD at boot up.

Thanks for the tip, I disabled it again. Although I don't have a problem with it, I don't trust it, and my drive is fast enough I don't see much improvement with it enabled.

And why do they insist on putting the useless 3D objects folder back?! ...to regedit we go again, bye bye.

As far as I am aware, this site does not support piracy. It is really, really hard for someone to legally run LTSB at home.
So let me ask again, how are people here doing it?
P.S.
Your dislike of OS does not matter in this question nor it can be used to approve piracy.

I have a actual legit license for 2015 LTSB from a former employer. It can happen.

Those Microsoft payments must be really good to go hunting theorical pirates on forums...

Downloaded this one to replace the old .iso, but it's only for the clients, I can't stand all the bloat it has, an SSD is now mandatory for a normal experience thanks to that. Most computers I receive are Atom Celerons (Celeron Silver?) with 500GB 5400RPM drives and 4GB of RAM. The performance in them is as good as you can expect.

This reset my audio settings AGAIN. My headphones blasted my ears off, and sound kept dropping out on my speakers because they were set to 5.1 instead of stereo. I really hate having to do this every goddamned time.

Any Office365 users here? Does Outlook (or any Office app for that matter) request activation after each system restart post this Windows 1803 update?

Main pc update went fine no problems. Laptop is getting random BSODS after update and fails to create dumps of the crashes. First time having problems with version update..

With this update Microsoft also introduces a Local disK (E:) of 449 MB in size, which has not been talked by any news outlet, presumably to store your activities for Timeline tab into it.
It hasn't been talked about by any news outlet, because it's not news. It's called the Recovery Partition. And it's always been there.

This recent update is giving me anti-aliasing issues with my nVidia GT630M, when I use Flight Simulator X:SE. It was perfect before the update, which I received yesterday (April 30, 2018).

I tried everything but still get jagged edges around textures.

Am I the only one with this issue from the update?

Thanks,

Braden
Reset your games and nvidia control panel, keep your driver copy handy.

Get the 2nd to latest driver and latest driver, get display driver uninstaller, get the latest chipset driver if available.

Disconnect your ethernet cable or wifi connection.

Run DDU twice, follow directions restart.

Install latest chipset driver if available, Restart.

Install latest GPU driver, restart

Reconfigure your settings.

I've updated to 1803 and I can say that I have not encounter any problems yet. I like the visual changes and maybe it's just me but it feels a bit faster

P.S I've tested this on both my systems in the signature.

It borked my Win-10 installation and I had to reinstall the OS to fix it.

PITA!

We shall see what this update does internally. I really do not care for features more for whats new under the hood. Every edition allways installs some wierd game or crap no one wants. Like the first update to orginial I called it the Candy Krush edition because it install that stupid game without asking if I wanted it. Fall edition I called disney makeover edition.

Nice Download speed try mine.

Looks like mine just slower

Guess it's time for me to update my OS with this new update. Hopefully all goes well like how MS deploys Anniversary Update.

So... The people here speaking about LTSB.
Do you have an Enterprise agreement? I really, really doubt that.
It is a bummer you cannot legally acquire the product you want as a retail customer. But considering W10 Home/Pro price is subsidized by all these ads and featured apps and what not the product is really you.

This garbage utter crap update managed to broke (yet AGAIN) the Creative X-Fi Titanium sound drivers again!!! This time cannot even fix it with a re-install. The sounds it's just garbage now, even with the original Creative Drivers. It keeps crackling and popping like crazy now, cannot fix it with any drivers....

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't blame Microsoft here in that case, truth be told Creative's stuff isn't as high quality as their stuff used to be. They used to make the best sound cards in the industry but lately they've gone down the toilet.

Always a good idea to wait a bit on these updates, and let the early adopters find the bugs.

YEP!
Or well, not activation but after updating it asks me every lauch for my college or enterprise outlook account, which I do not have, just personal account. I had to repair Office.

Not sure what other company makes better sound cards, from the quality and fidelity point of view? I would love one of those?
However the drivers seems to be the issue here, they don't seem compatible anymore with the update...

Cool, feels good so far.

I’d be using Daniel K’s drivers regardless if I was still on my X-Fi

Believe it or not but on-board RealTek audio really ain't that bad. It used to be that on-board audio was complete garbage but lately, even within the last five years, it's really been quite good.

Update would not install, even booting from a USB stick. Backed up data, fresh install.
Everything is great, except one bug.
In a dual monitor setup, with Chrome open on the left monitor and watching a video file with the Windows 10 Movies and TV media player on the right (full screen mode).
While browsing, the Movie and TV screen will minimize randomly.
And wheel scrolling in the browser window will intermittently stop working (F5 fixes that).

Only happens when using Chrome and Movies and TV. Other media apps do not do this with Chrome.
Works fine when I don't use full screen mode with Movies and TV player.
(yeah yeah, just use another media player)

It took half day to install it on a hard disk.:mad:Microsoft:mad:

You're still running a hard drive? Well then, there's your problem. Your should be running an SSD.
