Cryorig at COMPUTEX 2018 showed the most complex and impressive M.2 SSD cooling solution the market has ever seen with their Frosbit cooler. The Frostbit cooler, which the company had already teased going into the show, is the world's first M.2 cooling solution to feature heatpipe cooling technology - the heatpipe transfers heat from the M.2 SSD through its heatpipe loop and dissipates it in a large volume heatsink. This should alleviate any thermal throttling issues which some NVMe, M.2 SSDs are plagued with with inefficient airflow setups. The secondary, heat-dissipating heatsink can be adjusted so as to avoid contact with other components. This design really brings memories of OCZ's Reaper memory kits, as well as some other after-market modding solutions for RAM memory sticks which featured similar heatpipe designs.

The aluminium block would be adequate without the extra pipe and cooling fin set up.
It only needs sufficient airflow over that area.
 
Yea, like I really want 2-4 of those butt ugly fin stacks & pipes fugglying up the inside my rig :eek: o_O....

Ummm no, I'll stick with the EK blocks I have now, works just fine to keep both my sammies running at 34-38c even under heavy workloads..
 
Love the look ... kinda badass ... and thankfully no RGB. But the design, any advantage of the heat pipe and fins seems like it will be lost from too many surrface transfers between dissimilar metals. SSD => Heat Sink => copper pipe= > fins => air

I have the EK blocks as well, very nice looking and very functional. I think those are as much as one would need. It seems like for this thing to be worth having that extra bulk and make full use of the added heatsink, the heat pipe would have to be fit tight to the block, which then would not let it pivot... but I'm no thermodynamic engineer, so maybe I'm wrong.

edit: ok so I looked at it again.... I guess the heatsink would be tight to the pipe once you position it and tighten down the top portion... but I dunno... just seems unnecessary to have the extra pipe/heatsink.
